These figures come from the government, huh?

Fact checked?

What kind of jobs? Warehouse workers and delivery drivers? This is meaningless without context - and a fact check.

Edit: I should have checked earlier replies for the fact that vonq suggested the same inquiry.

Are those numbers for real, or has the clown taken over BLS, too?

These are most likely minimum wage service industry jobs. Grocery store, retails stores, warehouse workers, restaurants with take out etc have had hiring sign out for months. I know in the stores I go to there are lots of new faces. So for those who complained they were out of work, if they wanted to work there were jobs they could apply for. However these are not living wage jobs. As to unemployment claims dropping, there are many who don’t qualify so of course the rate will drop.

The devil is in the details which need to b scrutinized.

What is it that donnie used to say about GOOD unemployment numbers under Obama?

Fake, I think?

Sorry…not buying this.

Many of the unemployed in April were likely on furlough (whether they knew it or not), and were able to return to their jobs in May.

It’s not that there really were 2.5M jobs created in May – more that 2.5M people were able to return to work. The projections of an additional 7.5M jobs lost in May was likely too pessimistic and assumed that factors in place in March/April were still causing the same rate of job loss in May. It’s more likely that the job market adjusted itself in the last month (restaurant workers switching to delivery and other services).

This is actually good news. We don’t want to be in the throes of the next Great Depression on January 21, 2021. There will be many important fish to fry then.

This would be meaningful, if we were past the pandemic, but we’re not.

People getting unfurloughed in “reopening” states count as “jobs added”, but that’s legerdemain at best and will only last until the second wave hits from doing so.

Precisely. Seats filled is not the same as aggregate income and growth. There aren’t a lot of people retiring in style from GrubHub.

This is horrible news for some. Horrible.

Numbers are real but not too encouraging, Almost all new added jobs were people previously laid off due to COVID. Unemployment is still high. Nothing to cheer about. Much of these “improvements” come from the bailout/stimulus. Maybe one more stimulus package to go. Moratorium on foreclosures and evictions ends June 30th. And COVID to spike with the Reopening of America. Shit storm still coming.

This is welcome news. It signals the pandemic and oppression of minorities are over.

Added in May?

Hmmm…

Okay, I’ve thought about it. Smells a bit like bullshit.

I would have said that, but it would expose me for being a Russian troll.

Trump does project and there’s been plenty of data “cooking” from other gov’t agencies (EPA). Accept the data with caution until verified.
