180 members of the House have cosponsored an article to impeach President Donald Trump in the wake of his efforts to incited a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol earlier this week.
Enough Republicans, now or after January 20, just might recognize that an impeachment conviction prohibiting Trump from holding public office would be good for the country. It would also be doing them individually and the Republican Party a favor.
That’s a pretty low number that signed on. They don’t say if any Rethugs, but really most members here think what was done isn’t a real constitutional crisis. I don’t care how many days are left. People died, the capitol was trashed because of this one traitor.
Everyday to the end should be one repudiation of that ass after another. The history books are screaming for content that says at least they tried. And others didn’t.
Sending a lynch mob to the capitol building should have consequences. Moscow Mitch has already said that he won’t schedule a trial until January 19th, but impeachment is still good politics. The republicans will have to either repudiate trumpism and its voters, or vote in favor of lynch mobs that came to hang them (yes, they brought a gallows with a noose, it appears in photos outside the capitol building).
That’s my hope, too. This is not purely symbolic. He’s lost his social media megaphone, and now it’s essential to remove any reason anyone might have to tune in to his BS.
