A dozen House Republicans voted against a resolution to award Congressional Gold Medals to recognize the Capitol Police, the D.C. police in honor of those who protected the Capitol when it was attacked on Jan. 6, the Washington Post reported late Wednesday.
As a social media meme said, but these same 12 had no problem giving the medal to Rush Limbaugh.
The hypocrisy is astounding.
These 12’s fee-fees were hurt because the Capitol was called the temple of Democracy and the attackers were called insurrectionists. Doesn’t matter that those men gave their lives to protect those 12 sorry a$$e$, along with the people whose lives were truly in danger.
As someone else wrote (I think it was Heather Cox Richardson, this morning), it’s no coincidence that the next three people in line for the Presidency behind T**** were in the building during the attack, though she was quite astounded as to what the attackers thought would happen had they taken those three people out.
It’s clear that this development says volumes about the rethuglicans. Take a vote and memorialize their sentiment to beat them in '22. Don’t let citizens forget how their representative voted.
The GOP lawmakers, who said they objected to the use of the term “insurrectionists”
I can’t imagine what alternative they suggested.
A copy of al alternate resolution put forward by Gohmert and obtained by Politico mourned the loss of three police officers who died in the aftermath of Jan. 6, while omitting any mention of the Capitol attack.
Here’s the problem with that, as it is with everything else with the GQP:
Their supporters are just fine with it. Gerrymandering keeps these idiots in their seats.
It’s why HR1 MUST pass by any means possible. The minority should not be allowed to rule, whether Dem or GQP, ever. That’s flagrantly the opposite of what a majority is.
The GOP lawmakers, who said they objected to the use of the term “insurrectionists” in the resolution,
And I object to TPM’s use of the term “lawmakers” to describe the group. They have no interest in making laws. They are merely loud-mouth specimens of 3-plus decades of right wing rage media lucky enough to be pulling in six-figure salaries at our expense.
We haven’t yet gotten to the point of the third segment of the 14th amendment.
It’s getting too far away from the event and not yet enough evidence to support.
We’ll never see any of these folks held accountable for their role in it, because the MSM will pick up the drumbeat about the Dems just needing to get over it.
