It’s a start. I suppose the GQP will come out with counter measures insisting that these ten are just crybabies and no one was ever in danger (kind of the RoJo defense).

I heard one of them knocked on a door! Why, that’s a multiple felony*!!

*Void while not Black.

The amended complaint filed Wednesday adds the extremist group the Warboys LLC,

Sounds like someone is taking their cosplaying too seriously.

Edit: Does this mean Democrats are basically Team Furiosa?

Yes…it is a start…but I want to again assert that the torpor of the Legal System (which was designed to aid deliberation and reduce misapplication of injustice) will seem to make Team Trump invincible**, even though there will be ultimate success in attaining justice.

**and…of course, Trump has stooges and minions placing Trumpism on Center Stage whenever and wherever possible.

“The Defendants acted in concert to incite and then carry out a riot…"

Good luck trying to prove that beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Expect more. I think these section 1985 lawsuits may be the biggest threat facing Trump, Giuliani and the others who spoke at the rally.

Reps. Steve Cohen (D-TN), Karen Bass (D-CA), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), Veronica Escobar (D-TX), Hank Johnson Jr. (D-GA), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Maxine Waters (D-CA) joined the lawsuit.

Good.

Where is Nancy Pelosi? Is she taking a nap!

I’m not an attorney nor do I play one on TV, but I believe that as a civil preceding the burden of proof standard is “a preponderance of the evidence”, i.e. more likely than not.

Generally true in a civil suit, yes.

Maybe the best optics and political messaging would be best, and add to the gravity of the indictment, if more House members join over time and build to a stronger coalition. Instead of making headlines fewer times, make headlines more times.

You mean like the Gaetz story???

$64 Dollar Question(s) (that dates me right there…):

WHY is the Republican Party so attached to Trump…even now? Why all the minions and stooges (including the laff-fest ones)? Why all the Trumpian assertions? Why all the racist proclamations and deeds?

They gave up control and are trying to survive.

Yes, there’s a much more lax standard in civil court. Also, this is of course filed in DC where they are unlikely to find many Trumpist judges or jurors.

True, and I seriously doubt she won’t join the suit. The enraged, murderous mob was literally hunting for Pelosi in order to murder her. No one in Congress has more of a stake in this than she does.

Because the current crop of elected Republicans can’t top Trump’s act. They can’t compete with him, so they’ve acquiesced to his control of the base.

That’s right. And the GOP is filled with authoritarians, who are much more fearful than they let on. “At your feet or at your throat” could well be the mantra… none of them could bear to gamble on a break from the Herd.

Finally, GOPers excel in messaging the people they wish to reach, but have not figured out a way to break from the group

OT …understand that I, and most of us here, do not have the final take on this, but this is a discussion that is necessary.
