Yes, Russia was a member (when it was called the G-8) until they were expelled and sanctions applied over their illegal annexation of the Crimea from Ukraine. Trump’s basically talking about undoing all the punishments, allowing them to keep Crimea.

The stock market tends to be sensitive to the news - if Trump does have his temper tantrum and either pulls us out of the G7, gets us thrown out of the G7, or just triples down on his tariff threats, we could be looking at a major market drop in the next week or so in response.
