Discussion: Report: Secret Service Can't Pay Agents Because Of Trump's Travel, Large Family

Just comp them some shrimp cocktails at a Trump casino. They’ll be fine.

It’s not just the size of the President’s family that’s causing strain on the department, Alles said, it’s also Trump’s travel and his children’s business and vacation travel that has overworked Secret Service agents.

AH vacations… where is the talk of those $Billion vacations we heard about the last President taking… here this azz and klan take $3Million weekends every other week… and why provide protection for “business” trips???

Why are they still protecting Ivanka? Wouldn’t bullets just bounce off all of that silicone?

Making America Great Again.

So that’s what they mean when they say Trump women are “resilient”!

Eric and Don Jr are total idiots, but even to them is clear that they should not be going around without the SS, who knows a Trump worshiper might try to rip the shirt of one of the boys.

Yes, but Obama and family spent many of their vacations in that exotic foreign country of Hawaii (H/T: Cokie “Asshead” Roberts).

And so fucking petty and desperate. Gotta nickel and dime everyone to pay his debts. No wonder the Secret Service had to move out of Trump Tower.

I never thought I’d live to see the day when the American First Lady was 50% Play-Doh.

Prince won’t do shit unless he gets a bunch of money out it. Now they can always get some middle east tyrant that wants to be in Trump’s good book to pay for the mercenaries. Putin is not going to do it, he is already tired of so much winning .

Trump: ‘I would rarely leave the White House’
Real estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump ® says he wouldn’t get out much if he wins the Oval Office next year.

“I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done,” Trump, 69, tells ITK. "I would not be a president who took vacations. I would not be a president that takes time off.”
“You don’t have time to take time off,” Trump adds.
“I would work. And I would make the country great again. That’s what you have to do.”

Yes, but walking genetic abnormalities Donnie Jr. and Eric think it’s so cool to be in a bar and walk up to a woman and say, “See those two Secret Service agents by the jukebox? They’re MINE, baby!”

Trump has a large immediate family and I don’t begrudge him the required Secret Service protection for all of them. But there are certain steps he could take to reduce the taxpayer cost. In particular, when his adult children travel on business, they should be required to pay part of the cost of travel and accommodations for the Secret Service, In addition, there’s no reason why the Trump owned resorts and golf courses couldn’t provide golf carts and accommodations to the Service free of charge. He’s the sole owner and could bear this cost (or forego the profit) if he chooses.

And why are there 48 people covered (and why were there 31 covered in the Obama Administration? This is more than immediate family. Do these numbers include senior non-family officials who are entitled to coverage?

Something besides a casino being bankrupted by our beloved leader, Chancellor Otto Von Ballsack.

Plus, isn’t the Secret Service PAYING TRUMP our tax dollars to rent rooms and use facilities at his hotels and resorts in providing HIS! protection while he’s there, which is frequently?

By the way, being an Secret Service agent is undoubtedly demanding and risky work, but $160,000/yr. is a hell of a lot of pay for a security/law enforcement job, let alone upping that to $187,500.

I saw a lot of armed, uniformed Trump supporters in Charlottesville, many of whom said they would be willing to take a bullet for their President. I think the solution to this cost problem is obvious.

I may not be the greatest human being on earth, but I know goddamned well if some guy was willing to take a bullet for me, I’d give him a free hotel room - and a whole fucking box of chocolate mints on his pillow every night!

Wow…but in a way this was also totally predictable. tRump either runs everything into the ground or sucks the life-blood out of anything he’s in contact with. Mr. Billionaire (cough, cough) should be magnanimous and offer to use his own money to pay the Secret Service for their overtime. To add insult to injury, tRump charges the SS to use things like golf carts on the property of his courses so he can profit off them when he could just as easily have given that to them as a gratuity. They are protecting his life FFS. I don’t why, but they are…I guess they have to…

With that said, I still can’t see how anyone in the Secret Service would be willing to take a bullet for tRump or any of his asshole spawn.

Just make sure they have big red swastikas on their foreheads so the “fine people on both sides” in the crowd have better aim.

It seems protection should be accorded family members so far as their normal course of duties put them at standard levels of risk. The Trump boys and Ivanka travel extensively in search of money (profits) at various properties and businesses. If you want protection to better enable you to make money kick some back to the Secret Service. A line needs drawn.
