Discussion: Obama On Nancy Reagan: President Reagan 'Was Lucky To Have Her'

Discussion for article #247002

A wonderful, classy President we have indeed. I have listened to a lot of the coverage on Nancy, and her own son Ron, (who interestingly refers to her as Nancy Reagan and his father as Ronald Reagan) said today that there would be no Ronald Reagan but for Nancy (and I might add her stepfather, Loyal Davis)

Gracious as ever and personalizing the special-ness of the Reagan love story, with his own relationship with Michelle.

Completely skipped anything remotely political. (Note: somehow the RWNJ voices will find him lacking in some way.)

Meh…Obama should have just released a written statement expressing condolences to anyone who felt bad about Reagan dying. That would have been enough.

In other news…I see that Peyton Manning is giving his retirement speech…

And the wingnuts are rolling in the floor kicking, whooping mad that Obambi insulted Nancy Reagan.

I was listening to the NPR obit with an interview of Colin Powell. He mentioned the behind the scenes influence of Nancy. Additionally he mentioned her shopping trips to NYC which were as long as three days and how Ronnie missed her and felt empty being away from DC so long. Imagine the howls of outrage from the wingnuts if Michelle did that. They freak when she goes shopping at Target in suburban DC or take in a Broadway play with the president.

If you’ve ever had a partner whom you loved and who loved you equally, the president’s words will resonate. He’s not talking to cynics or about Ronnie, simply the death of woman who loved her man…

And there is no doubt they had a real love affair with each other.

In a platonic sense, a lot of people were in love with this lady.

As will some “liberal” voices, I fear.
