You aren’t the only one. Just saw an interview with a mom who got her son back after about 80 days. She is, of course, relieved and happy now. However, she said he’s been home awhile and is still traumatized - not allowing her out of his sight (for even a 5-minute errand) without starting to scream. These are poor people too, so it’s unlikely they can afford professional help for their kids. Multiply this by thousands and I am also “goddam angry.”

I would wage that most if not all of the kids in this set up facility are unaccompanied minors and not the ones ripped away from their mothers and fathers.
They are off being abused. This week is the adolescent boys’ turn to get cleaned up and pretend they are happy for “visitors”.

They are - Dick Durbin confirmed that all of the kids in the facility Melania toured were older and came across the border as unaccompanied minors. She did not encounter even one child who had been separated from parents.

Fair enough. I just have very low expectations for her. She avoids appearing in public like the plague and can barely speak English. Policy and social issues are way, way outside her wheelhouse. She doesn’t have the education, confidence and strength that we’re used to seeing in a First Lady. She’s not a Michelle, Hillary or Laura. We can’t expect her to act like them. It’s Melania we’re talking about. I don’t see the point in getting too riled up when everyone truly knows this is the best we are going to get. When it comes down to it, do we really give a shit what she does? No. Not really.

That’s true. My worry is only that these kinds of photo-ops will placate people and then the migrant issue will become sidelined. (Besides, I’m freaking out that the Trump admin has just requested the Pentagon to find 20,000 beds for these kids in military facilities.)

Holy shit I thought this was a photo shop internet hoax thingy but CNN just posted a headline blurb on my screen saying it is really what the mindless “escort” was wearing. This can’t be real. I want some LSD to take me back to a saner world.
Apparently once in military compounds the kids would be out of bounds of nosy reporters and others seeking information about their health and welfare.
So since this all started and we learned about the injury to developing brains I wondered if the Governments of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala will sue the US for injury to their children?
(and I know if they win the kids still won’t get the treatments/therapy that they’ll need)
