I will never forgive him for unleashing Rafael and Ted Cruz on America.

I know we’ve done some bad things, Bay of Pigs, etc., but we did not deserve that.

With no memory of the revolution’s heady first decades, younger Cubans complain bitterly about low state salaries of about $25 a month that leave them struggling to afford food and other staple goods.

More seriously, as more and more Americans visit Cuba and luxury hotels, restaurants, clubs, and resorts get built, I imagine it’s going to be almost impossible for Cuba to continue with the same stale policies.

Castro’s going to die AFTER we lifted the embargo? Now he’s just screwing with us.

Don’t forget Marco “Thirsty” Rubio. That’s on Castro, too.

We’re all dying soon, Fidel. (Cues the Enya song.)

Even Generalissimo Francisco Franco and the Mad Monk Rasputin died.

We all die.

And most, unlike Dick Cheney, remain dead for a long long time.

So the Gerontocracy plans on holding on to the bitter end. It will make for an unstable Cuban transition.

When the last of Fidel’s generation dies in a few years rapid change may ensue. Cuba is nothing like North Korea, Cubans know what the outside world is like and what is happening there.

Sorry, Fidel. Sadly, cunts are still running the world. *

  • I quote the word from the English working class political sense. My apologies for anyone who finds the word terminally offensive.

He’s not wrong, but isn’t it interesting how much longer he has lasted in power than so many of his enemies? I als believe it’s long past time we end our embargo. I predict that will do more to open up Cuba than all our years of boycott have done.

“if they are worked at with fervor and dignity, they can produce the material and cultural goods that human beings need…”

So was this Fidel speaking about one-party state socialism, or David Koch speaking about Supply Side Economics? It’s hard to tell, since both are quasi-religious dogmas that have little relation to actual reality.

That announcement and FidelCastro’s speech together delivered a resounding message that the island’s revolutionary generation will remain in control even as its members age and die, relations with the U.S. are normalized, and popular dissatisfaction grows over the country’s economic performance.

Good luck with that, old men.

He often has been employed by the Castros to impose order in areas seen as lacking discipline, most recently touring the country to crack down on private sellers of fruits, vegetables and other agricultural goods.

Never mind. There isn’t enough luck in the world. Pathetic. Reformers should create staged private markets for him to “raid”, so he can live out his days furthering the glory of the revolution. ¡Patria o Muerte!

Just, please, please forget everything Cuba ever learned from the Soviet Union. Don’t let the country become the property of billionaire thugs who care nothing for the people.

And in other news, tomorrow the sun will rise!

So our insider Elian Gonzalez hasn’t overthrown the decadent and compromised old guard and set up the new revolutionary vanguard of the Cuban people yet?

Is the timetable bugged or something?

Seriously, and I am not trying to be funny here, Fidel is still alive?!?!? I actually thought he was dead and already departed from the scene.
