Discussion: FCC Votes To Repeal Obama-Era Net Neutrality Regulations

Don’t forget that HRC had plans for expanding high-speed internet access to rural communities–the very same “forgotten men and women” Trump has actively shafted rather than passively forgotten.

But we can’t cover policy because SHRILL and EMAILS.

Agreed - but we need to be sure younger people know WHO voted to mess with their online access.

Heads on pikes. That’s the only thing that will stop them. Or, you know, we could vote them out of office. That works, too.

“The broadband industry promises that the internet experience isn’t going to change.”

So why the hell-bent need to gut net neutrality?

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think they were lying, shameless, rapacious, thieving, soulless scumbags.

Minor correction…So badly covered by “Big” Media, the ISP’s can get away with it. There’s a reason for that. Just ask Comcast. The response you’ll get is most likely “no comment”. Can’t say NBC or MSNBC have spent much time on it either except in small ways here and there. There’s a reason for that too.

Believe it or not, the internet companies who have just been deregulated are claiming that they will use the money they save to expand service to poor, rural communities. Sure they will . . . .

Remember when NC Gov, McCrory and the state legislature had that problem with the bathroom ban? Protests didn’t seem to make a dent until a porn site banned NC users. That got the attention of the state legislators mighty quick.

“The broadband industry promises that the internet experience isn’t going to change.”

That’s right up with these classic old favorites:

1). “The check is in the mail.”
2). “I’ll respect you in the morning. Honest.”
3). “Relax. I promise I won’t come in your mouth.”

You damn well fuckin betcha! Without the scumbag self-loving Greens we wouldn’t have Trump or a fucking war in Iraq that killed 1000’s of our people and untold numbers of folks in the Middle East. Fuck the damn Greens. Selfish, self-centered assholes that just fuck things up for everyone else. And KILL them. Save the defenses…I’m not stupid and you’d have to be to buy that Greenie bullshit.

Yeah, how is this not a crazy miscalculation by Republicans? What am I missing? If people have to pay more for what should be a utility, something that was always basically free, how do the folks who voted for this defend that?

I generally agree with your comments wholeheartedly. This one I think is counterproductive, imposing a retroactive purity test that just pulls everyone back into a cycle of recrimination.

Jill Stein was a terrible candidate, and as you point out, perhaps even complicit. But the Green Party has positive effects: it both forces Democratic candidates to tack left, and (in theory but not always in practice) can attack the Right in a ways that the mainstream Democrat cannot. I don’t think it is a given that they divert more votes from the Democrats than they add during the course of the election. But even if I concede that, I disagree with blaming them for every one of Trump’s actions, because I don’t think doing so will convince a single Green voter to change their voting habits.

Please STOP with the fucking “terrible candidate” tripe. Jill was a horrible person. So was her movement and it’s always been that way.

This wholesale capitulation to corporations and the obscenely wealthy is genuine class warfare, but for some reason we’re not allowed to use the phrase.

Believe or not (referencing my other comment), I completely and enthusiastically agree with you on this. It’s well past time for the Dems to yank off the gloves and stop pulling their rhetorical punches.

Nah. Make 'em wait their turn, with plenty of time to remember all those good times they had at our expense.

Thanks for the link. I made a genuine comment to the FCC in support of net neutrality last July, and then my name appears on three probably bogus anti-net neutrality comments posted in August with addresses in three different states.

Savvy millennials and Gen Xers might if they are paying attention. But then we all know they couldn’t bother to inform themselves or sat on the sidelines in a snit in 2016.
