Discussion: CPAC Boots White Nationalist Richard Spencer After He Crashes The Party

They are nothing but garden-variety, left-wing fascists.

See what he did there?

I see what he was trying to do there. What is it that makes it impossible for a conservative to do something “good”, in this case denigrating a white supremacist movement, without also adding in a dig, irrational as it may be, against liberals?

Sources within CPAC said Spencer’s ideas are “so cool”, but stated he got booted from the meetings because “he’s too obvious about stuff”.

“In five years, I might be on a panel" … or trying to pull a pitchfork out of his chest.

I was wondering where Richard was - haven’t seen him since he was punched in the face = twice = on the day of the Tiny Inauguration.

I think it’s downright funny that CPAC finally found a line it will not cross. The White Nationalists don’t seem to be making inroads even in the Tea Party.

heh heh heh

In that speech Thursday morning, CPAC organizer Dan Schneider called the
alt-right “a sinister organization that is trying to worm its way into
our ranks,” and warned the thousands of attendees: “They are
anti-Semites. They are racists. They are not an extension of
conservatism. They are nothing but garden-variety, left-wing fascists.”

Who, for some reason, all voted for the conservative republican candidate.

It seems to be an awfully squiggly line. Headlining Breitbart & Steve Bannon while escorting Richard Spencer out with security = weird world.

I didn’t recognize Spencer’s face at first because I’m so used to seeing a fist in it.

Agreed.

It’s all for show but it’s still funny to see Spencer and Milo kicked out.

”…white nationalist and self-identified leader of the alt-right…”

If you write an article about a man who defends swastikas, shouts “Hail Trump!”, and gives Nazi salutes…

You’re allowed to say “Nazi”. Really. It’s OK.

Please don’t normalize him with euphemisms like “white nationalist” or “alt-right”.

Godwin’s Law – literally – is repealed.

Less than an hour later, Spencer was escorted out of the hotel by security.

“He is not welcome here," CPAC Communications Director Ian Walters told TPM. "His views are repugnant and have absolutely nothing to do with what goes on here.”

“We’re sending him to the White House.”

Ah, poor Richard Spencer. He is now getting the David Duke treatment from the GOP. See before you get too visible and your racism Too blatant - you are embraced (heck David even ran for office as a Republican) - but once it becomes common knowledge/conventional wisdom that you are the embodiment of old Klandom - oops too far - not welcome.

Oh - and CPACers are starting to recognize some forms of deplorables? Interesting.

“‘He is not welcome here,’ CPAC Communications Director Ian Walters told TPM."

CPAC eighty-sixed Spencer just because of a little “Heil Trump”?

Sheesh!

But CPAC kept Bannon. What’s up with that?

Oh make no mistake they made inroads. They made them decades ago during the civil right movement.

This is about optics, not ideals.

It’s like a moment of glee. Fleeting but enough to bring a smile (and invite some snark.)

The conference is also hosting Frank Gaffney, who just a few years ago was banned from the event for being too far on the anti-Muslim fringe.

By the end of the week, they’ll change their minds about Spencer, too, and invite him back for a keynote address.

He works for the President.

The better question is if they would have let him in if he didn’t work for Trump.

I said that it was all appearance somewhere. Thought it was around here…
