Scenes From a Personalist Regime The man who famously slapped his name on everything from steaks to vodka to cologne to chocolate is eager to emblazon his name prominently on national landmarks. FRIST!
Stupid and Dangerous
This was negligent homicide
The Peoples House
Trump administration calls banned journalists’ White House access ‘a privilege, not a right,’ brands coverage a security risk
In a new legal filing in the case over a trio of new outlets barred entry to the White House, Trump administration lawyers repeatedly defended the president’s ban by saying journalists were not entitled to access to the building.
“Access to the White House is a privilege, not a right,” the filing stated.
The filing went on to assert that the three outlets – by publishing sensitive or classified information obtained through its reporting – constituted a national security threat, giving the president the right to ax their credentials.
Trump banned the three outlets – CNN, MS Now, and Politico – last Friday in a snap decision announced via social media. He branded the three outlets “fake news” and threatened future bans against other outlets could follow.
The sentence I expect to hear from all of the Democratic nominee candidates: “When I am President I will immediately remove Trump’s name from every government building, demolish all of the monuments he has built to himself, and restore the White House to its former glory.”
This is table stakes for me. Any candidate who can’t make this statement won’t get my vote.
The man who famously slapped his name on everything from steaks to vodka to cologne
I read too quickly and thought it said “everything from steaks to vomit to cologne,” and for a vanishing second, I was kind of in favor.
So, unlike with post offices, this shit doesn’t require an act of Congress?
“One person with knowledge of the broader renaming effort who requested anonymity to address a sensitive topic said officials were looking for buildings and other sites that could carry the president’s name while presenting an easier legal path than the Kennedy Center push,” MSNow reports.
Ford’s Theatre is is just one of several possibilities in an apparent move to line up new naming honors for Trump
Great! They should also send a team down into the Atlantic seabed to paint over the name ‘Titanic’ with ‘Trump’.
Such sophistry could not disguise his core argument, however. With the blood barely dry on the Walmart floor, Herrera was urging his viewers to celebrate the choice of weapon used in the carnage – a military-style AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
Locally, the implications are even more poignant. It would mean that a Republican committed to loosening America’s already lax gun laws would become the voice in Congress for those who live in the outskirts of El Paso, the city left devastated by that 2019 Walmart mass shooting.
Some of that negligent homicide belongs to Texas for not requiring the camp to remove the cabins from the flood plane.
Has there ever been a leader before who went full-tilt after naming everything for himself instead of, you know, doing things to deserve having stuffed named for him?
I guess that path is for suckers.
Has anyone attempted or succeeded in connecting ‘disclosures related to national security’ with access to the White House, as opposed to some other source? In other words, do those news outlets still have access to their sources?
At issue is the administration’s seizing on a lazy postal worker’s alleged dumping of 300 mail-in ballots in the garbage ahead of the June primary election in Utah.
This (very bad argument anyway) seems to suggest that it the USPS that is the problem and thus, giving them more say in who gets their ballot just empowers the fraudsters.
especially sites of infamous murders! maybe he can get some traction in the UK by insisting people use ‘trump the ripper’
Yes Chump, if you would only die then maybe we can all agree on something we will slap your name on. How is Nov 4 looking?
They cared more about money than about children dying in a flood. Typical Republican family values.
___ the Lipper?
