Why the 9/11 Families Are So Angry With the PGA Tour

Having survived 9/11 am appalled that we are doing this deal with the home of most of the planners and hijackers. Dollars uber alles.

Where was the outrage from these families when “W” went to war with a nation that had nothing to do with 9/11?

I was on my way to work in Astoria, Queens thinking that my brother who was a shop steward at Verizon was dead. Luckily he hadn’t gone over there from the Verizon building yet. He did get covered in toxic dust and then died in 2009 so you can put that in the ledger you keep titled “Whose Trauma Is Worse?”

I could say more but there are probably some silly Hive rules about using certain words.

To some extent, yes. He was, however, the guy who initially proposed nationalizing Iran’s oil industry, with support of Parliament. The coup was, ultimately, the CIA paying him off to kill that idea however he could, which is what saw the collapse of Iranian democracy…

The PGA is a golf association, and if we expect its leader to be well versed in geopolitics and PR crisis management we will be pretty disappointed.

This will shake out, I believe, with a separation of the PGA and the Saudis. Of course I’m no expert either.

Yeah, you win. The Saudis are A-OK as along as they have a fistful of cash. Nothing to see here.

The whataboutism when half the country is taking metaphorical flying lessons goes on unabated.

I love to play golf.

I’ll go a step farther. Sports fans have a constitutional right to enjoy their sports without the unwelcome intrusion of kneeling athletes, discussions of head trauma, or pride events.

I think you are joking.

The 9/11 Families need to be all-in or all-out. Saudi money is everywhere in the US Capitalist System. Has anybody in the 9/11 Families group ever used oil products? UBER? Twitter? Voted for Trump, for example? He is completely mobbed up with the Saudis and actually excused the murder of Khashoggi.

This story is badly misreported. The PGA Tour didn’t change their minds – they saw how expensive litigation would be against LIV and realized that they didn’t have MBS’ pockets. Which was MBS’ plan from the beginning, unbeknownst to Greg Norman or anybody else at LIV. The whole thing is a hostile takeover of an American sports league by a Saudi malefactor. Hopefully the government will block it.

Augusta National has the “Amen Corner.” Will the courses where LIV tournaments are played have “Bonesaw Bunkers”?

You’d think that the PGA could have found one friendly deep-pocketed billionaire to help them take on the Saudis.

Let me see if I have this straight. These families are only now discovering that the one and only thing that matters in this country is money? And everything else including common sense, common decency, patriotism, principles, character and so on and so on is just background noise? Well, fuck me. As John McClane put it, “Welcome to the party pal.”

The top players are multimillionaires. They should have refused to play until both the PGA and LVI folded. Then start over. But no, they have to continue to stuff their pockets with cash.
