President Trump’s decision to name Richard Grenell to lead the country’s intelligence community raises a staggering array of questions, ranging from the staunch Trump loyalist’s preparedness for the job to his oversight of whistleblowers past and future.
Jeffrey Edmonds, a former director for Russia on the National Security Council and a former CIA intelligence analyst, told TPM. “I just think it’s quite dangerous in the sense that the right information might not get to the right people.”
I think the bigger danger is certain information getting to the wrong people. Funneled to them for the express purpose of weaponizing it to harm other people.
Germans reached their fill of this clown a year ago. Grenell was installed about a month after Tillerson was canned. The gutting of State had been underway for just over a year. Putin must have gotten a kick from this guy’s installment, as Putin, you will recall, was station head for the KGB in East Germany back in the 1980s.
“Grenell is a complete diplomatic failure. [He] damages trans-Atlantic relations with his repeated clumsy provocations,” Carsten Schneider, a lawmaker with the Social Democrats (SPD), told the German news agency DPA.
Just Trump showing his middle finger to anybody who’ll watch.
I still predict that if his numbers tank before the Nov. 2020 election (almost a certainty) that Trump, in a desperation move to bump up his numbers with “the base” will withdraw the US from NATO.
Also, it will be a final “gift” to Putin for all his support.
