Why Old NRA Donors Want Their Money Back | Talking Points Memo

Eh, no problem! There’s always the rubes, er, faithful rank and file, sending in their $5’s and $10’s every few months. LaPierre might have to make a few adjustments in his clothing budget, though.

Haha trick question. Trump will never be happy. Have we ever seen an image of him doing normal stuff with any of his children? They don’t seem to have lives together. It’s as though he’s such a public person, always performing, that there’s no time, energy, interest, or particular need to have a private family life.

I know! What kind of people want to bequeath their assets to the N fucking R A?

Perhaps people lacking in imagination. I don’t know, I just hate this organization and what they’ve done.

My husband is no ‘gun nut’ but it appears when you buy any gun (any kind) $1 of your purchase goes to the NRA and you get on their mailing list. Same thing with ammo.

We began to get mailers from the NRA about the ‘evils’ of gun control and I asked my husband (it was in his name) to contact them so we don’t get the mailers – we find it upsetting to read their mailers. He said, make 'em pay the postage. “I” said you don’t ‘do’ the mail, “I” do the mail and I don’t want to see them.

Anyway, a few years went by and I have not seen one for a while. I don’t know if it is because of their ‘financial issues’ or we just dropped off the mailing list ‘finally.’ But it sure seems like a dumb recruitment policy to US.

That’s a point I do not think about: what is their minority (black and brown) membership?

As you pointed out – many, many choices out there of organizations helping others, solving medical puzzles, making music, preserving history, saving the planet – but no, they want all of their wealth to go to a industry group that sells instruments of death. So warped.

Because of the time it DOES sound like him tweeting. He might have a ‘dedicated person’ to clean up the misspellings and such. But this is ALL HIM.

I personally worry about his inability to sleep. Someday something ‘bad’ is going to happen.

Trump would have only one word for you in response: ‘Who?’

The “seven figures” he bequeathed to the gun group earned him the status of Charlton Heston Ambassador Member. That’s the top rung of the NRA’s “Ring of Freedom Heritage Society,”

Good Lord. SEVEN figures!

The GOP uses a vocabulary of ten words, maybe that’s why their messaging is so effective. They match these few slogans with precisely TWO images, a rippling American Flag and a bald eagle and they’re done! Why hire an ad agency?

I find it terribly sad that so many feel their greatest wishes are those dreamed up and funded by the NRA. What a racket if you can get on the gravy train, huh?

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but for someone to leave an inheritance to an industry trade group, who has a prime mission of making money for the gun industry… how dumb can you get? Talk about sheeple…

Imagine the amount of delusion it would take to think that the NRA was supposed to be operated in good faith.

Turns out guns have more way to become lethal than you might expect. One would think that had the members and leadership stuck to the NRA’s original purpose of promoting gun SAFETY they might not have shot themselves in the foot.
So sad, too bad lololololol

We have a progressive income tax. Estate tax, too. We also need a progressive capital gains tax. Or better yet, eliminate the distinctions entirely and tax everything at the recipient level as ordinary income.

I expect Trump sees Barron from time to time in the private residence. I cannot imagine the last time Trump exchanged more than a few words with him. But of course, no amount of interaction with his son would make any impact whatsoever on Trump’s unhappiness.

For comparison, the NRA’s last public financial statements – released in 2017 – show the group recording $380 million in expenses, with $378 million in revenue.

Does anyone find this credible? I don’t. Only $2 mil in the hole after all the NRA’s bullshit shenanigans? Fat chance. Seems to be cutting it close in their financial statements imo. Its probably more like they have money stashed off-shore that they’re not letting anyone know about or see, or they’re more in the hole then they’ve let on. Just speculation on my part of course.

Strange set of values for these guys. Get rid of LaPierre not because he is a moral vacuum supporting murder, but because he’s a crook.

Legal expenses must have skyrocketed since 2017.
