From my house this looks more like what Josh described in his piece yesterday. A weak horse pulling your cart is a liability. There’s going to be a bit of a contest to see who emerges as the new leader of the global right. The more the US shies away from any kind of global leadership, the stronger the Euro brand becomes.
This reminds me of the delegates at the RNC convention in 2008. They didn’t even know who George W Bush was. They will do the same with Trump..
Trump is toxic in Europe, closeness to that bastard is an anchor hanging from the neck. No doubt that had something to do with Orban’s defeat.
The bad news is that a lot of that bad will is being rubbed on the US as a country.
Any European country that has a problem with immigration needs to go back and look through their own history books. How many of these countries had colonies in Africa or S. America? And to go farther back in the case of Italy the Middle East?
I’m not saying we all need open borders, but damn we have historians that wrote what happened where and when. Crack book read/re-read their own history books.
Racism is a one-way street.

Trump’s attack on the Pope — indefensible for Meloni as someone who has defined herself as a Christian and whose party draws on a vast Catholic electorate — gave the Italian prime minister the exit she needed to signal her distance from Trump’s recent actions to voters.
And perhaps she’s realized ETTD and wants to avoid that.
