Hegseth isn’t at war just with Harvey Milk. He’s also at war with the entire LGBTQ+ world and the libs who gave them the human rights they deserve. He’s a hater and a bigot, somebody whose “warrior ethos” and toxic masculinity seem quite likely a cover for massive insecurities, clearly fueled by ignorance. There’s no way he should ever be in charge of anybody or anything, much less the DoD. I will rejoice when Trump inevitably fires him.
Of course, I don’t expect to be any happier about who Trump replaces him with…

Uhhhh…because he’s a wacko who’s for some reason terrified of and therefore full of seething hatred for any person who has any significant number of traits that differ from his own? Or, in some cases, who perhaps has traits that are similar to traits that Pete does possess but which some in society fear or disdain and so Pete works assiduously to avoid showing that he may have even a trace of any such traits?
Which makes him a paranoid, psycho bigot who should never ever ever be put into a position of power over other human beings, much less be made the boss over one of the largest organizations on the planet?

And yet, we have an aircraft carrier name for Senator John Stennis. He was a staunch segregationist for many, many years while in office. He only got the message late in his tenure. Likely an expedient move.

Hegseth is just one among the entire panoply of bad appointees that Donnie has foisted upon the country.
Trump chooses to associate and admire people of low intellect, vacant morals, and ridiculously sleazy backgrounds. He feels very insecure among any group that outranks him in any of those qualities. And with his vast number of insecurities, it is hard to find any group that does NOT outrank him in any or all of those qualities.

Retired enlisted man here. “Whiskey” Pete Hegseth never made it past the rank of Major and ended up in the DC National Guard. He was barred from the inauguration of President Biden after his superiors determined he was an insider threat due to a tattoo “Deus vult”.
Deus vult has been adopted as a slogan by a variety of Christian right and Christian nationalist groups, as well as alt-right and white supremacist groups.

I tell the story all the time. I was a page for Washington State Senator Jim West in the early '90s, as a high school student, and I had to answer the phone and defend his position the gay people shouldn’t get special rights.
He was adamantly against any bill which would create civil unions.
In the early 2000s, he became mayor of Spokane Washington. A year into his term, the spokesman review ran an article, a well researched article, about his long history with 16 and 17-year-old boys.
He didn’t abuse me. I was never alone with him. Thank f****** God.

Angry person with multiple divorces behind him where abuse played a part, drinks to get drunk and often, speaks loudly about his masculinity.
I’m thinking a very dark and deep closet and deeper fears.
