There is nothing worse than a highly education, pompous asshole. Josh Hawley is but one of the MAGAts who fit that description. Indeed, they ENJOY being assholes.
Which, of course, makes his “Manliness” book a complete joke. He’s about the last guy I would take advice from regarding that topic.

Do we need to spell out the obvious? There are people who refuse to work out their sexuality, and while they may remain firm they are also deeply conflicted individuals. They have to rely on a carefully scripted public persona, because it ain’t coming from the heart.

Pandering in a word but also constructing a persona around a void; in Hawley there just doesn’t seem to be much there there. Everyone has their own reaction to that I guessbut, to me, his manifest ambitions seem more like the antics of a henpecked husband staving off spousal critique than anything else, right down to his sunken chin and the hangdog eyes even when public preening.
Shorter version: Because he’s a dick.
