Trump could offer to support their reelection bids with endorsements if they cooperate, or make their lives miserable by supporting primary opponents if they don’t. Trump still has political capital to spend, even after leaving office. He sees himself as the GOP Kingmaker.
Anyway, I can’t see this going anywhere. The MI GOP meeting could just be an effort to talk Trump off the ledge and ask him to turn the glare of the media spotlight somewhere else.
If Trump would only concede and agree to leave quietly, I would name for him anything he wants. For example:
- The Post office that serves Mar-a-Lago
- A section of the border wall with Mexico
- Our embassy in Moscow / Jerusalem / Pyongyang (which ever he prefers).
- The Federal Courthouse in Foley Square.
Anything, really, to get him to leave.
