White House Aides Dutifully Keep Up Fantasy About Trump Victory | Talking Points Memo

In a wildly distorted view of what abiding by the will of the people means in a democracy, a number of White House officials are still refusing to come down from the fantasy that President Donald Trump will remain at his perch in the West Wing on Inauguration Day, when President-elect Joe Biden formally takes his place as the nation’s leader.

Someone should ask Trump if he’s keeping up with this farce because he fears going to jail. The denial should be something to behold.

Rarely have Americans had to deal with fanaticism like this among its leaders. Historians of all nationalities have had to.

But even historians have dealt with the fanaticism from the vantage point of the lecture, secure in the certainty that the subject of the lecture has been dead for years.

…and is not President of the United States.

“The applause went on—six, seven, eight minutes! They were done for! Their goose was cooked! They couldn’t stop now till they collapsed with heart attacks! At the rear of the hall, which was crowded, they could of course cheat a bit, clap less frequently, less vigorously, not so eagerly…Nine minutes! Ten!…Insanity! To the last man! With make-believe enthusiasm on their faces, looking at each other with faint hope, the district leaders were just going to go on and on applauding till they fell where they stood, till they were carried out of the hall on stretchers.”

At last, after eleven minutes of non-stop clapping, the director of a paper factory finally decided enough was enough. He stopped clapping and sat down—a miracle!
“To a man, everyone else stopped dead and sat down,” Solzhenitsyn says.

That same night, the director of the paper factory was arrested and sent to prison for ten years. Authorities came up with some official reason for his sentence, but during his interrogation, he was told: “Don’t ever be the first to stop applauding!”

Especially during Covid, when there are so many travel restrictions that the vaunted U.S. passport is worthless.

This is an absolutely bat-shit crazy article and shows the amount of stupid we’re dealing with. RepubliCONs, you own this.

I love the pic at the top showing the “Trump Pride” sign holder hiding their face. As a matter of fact, the article is filled with tRump supporters knowing they should be ashamed for their support of him.

Kayleigh McEnany, Peter Navarro, and all else who comically continue to deny reality should be derisively called out as a “Baghdad Kayleigh,” “Baghdad Peter,” etc. Ridicule is the only response.

Their actions, and so much of what I’ve heard on television interviews by Republican House and Senate members, and especially from former Republicans who now serve as commentators, sounds like words that you hear from someone who is the cause of an abusive relationship. It’s always someone else’s fault and the world is not considering their view, and … Scary, isn’t it that what was once a major political party in the US is now nothing more than an apologist for a crazy individual. It started with the Tea Party idiots, through the Moral Majority frauds, to the Trump family.

Guess they’re trying to hang on to this thing called a job a little bit longer to collect as much money as possible. After that, unemployment, name changes, plastic surgery, redo their applications and hope they don’t get caught.
