What School Board Races Reveal About US Elections

It’s the Uhliens. Of Uline.

I detect a whiff of jealousy from Rudy there.

Ah, the zoo! Once, at the local zoo, a pair of cougars … well, it was amusing to see the reaction of parents with children. At a different zoo, the tortoises were also, and their load groans and moans could be heard throughout the park.

And the Bradleys, of Allen-Bradley (bought by Rockwell ages ago)

Every one of my grandkids has been a participant in kidding season and in breeding season. Any kid with a farm life or a friend with a farm has witnessed sex Ed in action and maybe that is the way it should be. Pure and unvarnished.

Exactly. It was just something else in the world.

Whiff … Rudy … yuck.

This is an excellent point. Thus these parents not only want the school to support and advance their own prejudice but also to deprive other kids and families of a safe, affirming educational experience.

Iowa was the same. We ranked first in education for fifty years. After the first 16 years of Branstad we’d dropped to 24th.

Did you all give Branstad an award for that?

I know Nicole Angresano too and worked along with her and many others to defeat the recall in our district. The recall group was funded by outside interests with the same agenda that is being presented across the country.

I am old enough to remember when school boards were non-political and worked in the best interests of all students. Sadly, today it’s the loud, shrill voices of the few who are getting all the attention and using disinformation and scare tactics in an appeal to voters.

So the GOP hates teachers. That’s disgusting.

I get the huge Uline catalog. I don’t order but am glad they are wasting their money on me.

Hint.

Keep on keeping on. You will eventually prevail!

Me, too. And they have to pay a lot to get it out to me on the far, far, Left Coast! Hahaha

As with the “Big Lie” true believers, these RWNJ school board candidates are motivated by “alternative facts”. No doubt some of them will be elected to their local school boards. But that’s when reality will slap them in their faces. They will learn first hand that most of what they will be dealing with at their school board meetings will not be scrutinizing the curriculum for CRT or sex ed materials, but will be budget-related issues.

Over the past 10+ years, the conservative Wisconsin legislatures - especially under slick Scotty Walker - have tied the hands of local governments, including school boards, with state-imposed levy limits (to control property tax increases, of course). School districts cannot levy enough taxes to pay for basic school building maintenance and upkeep. Referendums are required to exceed the levy limits. These financial issues are what the school boards wrestle with, and the RWNJ’s will soon become bored and be one-termers.

This x 1000. The insidious funding, highly centralized organization and messaging, the Brownshirts and their death threats–the three legged stool of the GQP.
