What It Looks Like When One Side Rejects Democracy

After debate debacle, Kari Lake’s campaign limps to the finish line (msn.com)

Forget Propublica, where I go first for a deep dive journalist is a pathway directly to Roseanne Barr.

while also trying to capture a slice of the hapless folk who after all these years still haven’t made up their minds about Trump.

A wonderful post. “hapless” they are but what to do with the “hapless?” They defy logical conclusions and let emotions have too much to say in trying to get to their personal end game.

Michael Moore said it best the other night on CNN discussing Democrats and pearl-clutching: “are you not aware there will be a tsunami of women voting between now and election day …?”

The Media will keep pouring jet fuel on the fire but as the wife use to say when things got uncomfortably serious between us, “we have to talk.” It’s time to end the madness, move on, and let the lawyers do the rest. GOTV!

So…

Trump has bet on Racism as his final pitch for the final stretch.

Can someone in the MSM have the guts to publish this headline and write the article demonstrating the crescendo? I shouldn’t be hard

That way when asked if she agrees with the article, Harris can say “that was a comprehensive article… one voters should read and judge for themselves”

You can remind her of what H. L. Mencken said:

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

There is one word to describe these people: Poseurs.

I mean, you know, this isn’t like Elon with his rocket ships that land within 12 inches on the moon where they wanted to land. Or he gets the engines back, that was the first I realized—I said: ‘Who the hell did that?’ I saw engines about three, four years ago. These things were coming—cylinders, no wings, no nothing—and they’re coming down very slowly, landing on a raft in the middle of the ocean someplace with a circle. Boom. Reminded me of the Biden circles that he used to have, right? He’d have eight circles and he couldn’t fill ’em up. But then I heard he beat us with the popular vote. I don’t know, I don’t know—couldn’t fill up the eight circles. I always loved those circles, they were so beautiful. They were so beautiful to look at. In fact the person that did them—that was the best thing about his—the level of that circle was great. But they couldn’t get people, so they used to have the press stand in those circles, because they couldn’t get the people. Then I heard we lost, ‘Oh, we lost.’ Now, we’re never gonna let that happen again. But we’ve been abused by other countries. We’ve been abused by our own politicians, really more than other countries. I can’t blame them. We’ve been abused by people that represent us in this country—some of them stupid, some of them naive, and some of ’em crooked, frankly.

As I’ve said before, Harris supporters should absolutely welcome polls showing a dead heat. That is a good thing because actual votes elect presidents, not polls. And there is no better way to maximize votes for your side than to have everyone believe that their vote matters. Put your best foot forward on Election Day, count up the votes, and if it’s not enough then we Americans will get what’s coming to us. But at least there will be no regrets.

Flynn’s timing chain seems to have jumped a few teeth.

I have a suggestion for what to do with (at least some of) these people, and only making it because you can’t downvote comments on TPM:

Replace the useless Garland with Elizabeth Cheney as AG.

Let’s see the fucking NYT smelling salts about “partisan witch hunts” in the DOJ.

For the rest of them, learn to live with the fucking morons that elected them, or choose not to live with them. That’s all you’ve got.

Now the Harris campaign should have AOC deliver similar message to the first time voter set.

That was depressing. I was going to go vote early today, but maybe I will just jump in front of a semi and end it all.

I am not downplaying the seriousness of the moment, but I was born in 1951. I remember the 60s. Trust me, people thought that was the very possible end of the world. Nukes and LSD and JFK shot dead in Dallas on a lovely day. Demonstrations and sex. It seemed chaotic and scary to a lot of people.

Thank you, David. When I look back on this election – and I hope I do want to look back – it will be for the way the major media organizations abandoned honest coverage for sanewashing one candidate. I don’t mind them criticizing Harris. But, as Joe would say, C’mon, man.

I do find myself thinking about an historical event I first read about in Joe Queenan’s book about Dan Quayle and mediocrity, “Imperial Caddy.” (Oh, those were the days.) In the 13th century, the Mongol Empire was swiftly conquering Asia and moving into Europe. The Mongols were particularly brutal, known for razing entire cities and massacring their inhabitants, to make sure the survivors knew who was boss.

In the early 1240s, they pushed their way into Eastern Europe, winning battles in Poland and Hungary. They appeared to be on their way to conquering Western Europe as well.

And then the West caught a break.

The Mongol leader, Ogedai Khan – son of Genghis Khan – died in 1241. By tradition, the Mongols went back to Karakoram to elect his successor, which meant they broke off their invasion to travel the thousands of miles home. The momentum gone, Europe was saved (well, there was the Black Death and religious wars to come, but close enough).

I have fantasies that, in the next three weeks, a much dumber version of Ogedai Khan meets with the same fate.

No.

If anything, an Ambassadorship for Cheney.

Her politics and everything she stands for is opposite democratic party values.

Our only common agreements are that the declared winner of the EC should be president without a riot and Trump is killing the Republican brand.

That is literally it.

She is 1000% fine with everything the SC has done. (Maybe not immunity decision)

After Harris wins Cheney can get back to F’n all the way off. Because if the likes of Tom Cotton or Ted Cruz were the nominees, she would not be stumping for Harris.

The Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organisations – commonly known as Nihon Hidankyo – received the accolade one year before the 80th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and at a time of growing concern about the possible use of nuclear weapons.

The Nobel committee said it had decided to award the prize to Nihon Hidankyo “for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again”.

Not a snark. Have not seen reporting on the size of the crowd for Obama. If it was Harris/Walz huge, that would be good.

David seems to need to take some time off.

His “Mr. Happy” morning memo is decidedly off-putting.
