But except for unionized plants, meat and poultry workers rarely get paid when they’re sick. At many companies, including Tyson, workers receive disciplinary points for calling in sick.

Pandemic or no, this is not just immoral but unbelievably stupid. Cold-blooded self interest says no-one who prepares food should be without sick leave. But. here we are.
