WH Stands By Tanden Nomination Amid Manchin And GOP Outrage Over Mean Tweets

Sen. Susan Collins’ argument that Tanden’s combative tweets about various lawmakers, particularly Republicans, mean the nominee is unqualified to head the agency.

Sen. Mitt Romney… “believes it’s hard to return to comity and respect with a nominee who has issued a thousand mean tweets.”

Some of Tanden’s inflammatory tweets included the assertion that Collins is “the worst” and that “vampires have more heart than” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

“For, in the fatness of these pursy times,
Virtue itself of vice must pardon beg,
Yea, curb and woo for leave to do him good.”

Just as I would question the suitability of a Republican who is posting stupid / dumb / hateful social comments to a job that demands more intelligence, I question a Dem OR ANYONE who doesn’t know that it’s so fucking stupid to post all this crap to social media. That she didn’t know better makes me say … throw em in the gutter and go find another. There are plenty of people that can do this job just as good that know better than and have more sophistication than to post that crap.

Oh FFS this has nothing to do with her technical or even temperamental qualifications and everything to do with whether her confirmation and tenure will be marked by endless attacks on her, making it hard for her to get anything done. But perhaps Biden wants to prove something here and maybe even score some points, and is afraid that if he relents on here it’ll be open season on anyone who works for him who ever said even the slightest thing unpleasant about the GOP.

Nonsense
Deleting tweets is now a standard practice, not that internet ever forgets. That doesn’t mean she is hiding something. All nominees go through a thorough vetting process.
Do you really think the Republicans and the likes of Mancin will just stop at Tanden? This is an opening act to go after Bacerra, Gupta, Haaland, and so on.

Yeah, it does seem to be a “seen but not really heard from ever” kind of deal with Manchin… Biden should definitely keep this front and center and let Manchin burn his matches up. Then Hatch Act all the bozos Manchin did let get through during Twitler’s rein.

Deleting 1000 tweets so that you can become a member of someone’s administration seems cheesy. Is she that willing to “change her personality?” Acts like a shill.

I hope that there is at least one Republican Senator out of 50 who, alone by himself, with no one to hear and judge him, will recognize and acknowledge (to himself!) that the collective outrage at mean tweets is the tiniest little bit ironic.

Tanden has no training or experience in finance or accounting. She’s divisive in an administration that promises to unite us. Her main experience is running a grift-tank that takes money from banksters and then hauls water for them. This is intrinsic corruption and her job will be to determine ethics waivers for other persons heading into the Biden administration. She is practically the worst possible pick Biden could make. Manchin is doing the country a BIG favor. She can go back to grifting the banksters and other members of the <1%.

It’s also unwise to defer the outcome of his presidency to a career grifter who runs a grift-tank that takes money from banksters. Part of her job is to oversee ethics waivers for people coming into the administration. Her nomination makes a mockery of that notion at GOP/Trumpian proportions. She’s divisive in an administration that says it wants us to be unite.

You’re such a rank idealist!

What an astonishing coincidence.

I disagree. The gops haven’t had any issue whatever in supporting horrific policies that affect (hell, let’s be clear, “kill”) ordinary Americans. I don’t see why we should play their game at all. Fuck a gop.

I’m tempted to say that if anyone wants to pound a stake through Sweaty Teddy’s putative heart, I’d hand them a hammer and provide an alibi. But, I fully realize that even with Rafael dead, the fact that Texas gops would elect someone equally as shitty makes me wonder if it’s worth it to load up the backhoe in support.

Which kind of invalidates them, IMO.

Exactly. Which is why I see no reason to cave to the spineless weasels on this one.

It’s like they can’t recall a single thing that has happened in the past four years.

I don’t see any reason to not bring that up along with all of drumpf’s mean tweets. It smacks of “whataboutism”, but that’s their native language and I’m all about clear communications.

I don’t think “gun rights” is the proper framing for this. We already have rights to guns. No, this is about ammosexuality and rat wang white supremacist insurrection. Call a pig a pig and let’s move on to something substantive.

Maybe Manchin is still mad that Tanden drew attention to his daughter’s leadership of a drug company notorious for its predatory pricing?

Is this a fucking joke?? The republicans supported a woman whose stated goal it was to destroy public education as Education Secretary, the living embodiment of “all hat no cattle” for Sec. of Energy, a right wing troll who screamed Benghazi as Sec of State, complete and totally unqualified hacks at CIA and as DNI, and the single most political AG in history.

Mean tweets? Really? You would have thought based on the past 4 years that republicans didn’t read Twitter. I mean there are so many examples of them on tv claiming just that.

Treating their faux outrage and pure partisan hackery as anything other than what it is, is part of the problem.
