There are whole armies of good people who we’ll need to beg to come back. Vindman is one such good man. Think of all the State Department employees who were driven out. That alone has been a huge loss to our nation. I know of a certain Captain of an aircraft carrier who should be reinstated, at the very least, and perhaps promoted.

Once Joe is in the White House, we are going to have to do so much in such a short time to recover a functional government that a huge number of tasks are going to need to be executed in parallel. The transition team is going to be overwhelmed with preparations in order to hit the ground running. I suspect they’re going to need to staff many more people than a previously normal transition team to get all the ducks lined up.

Reading the editor’s blog post about “Defeatist Exceptionalism,” it’s clear there are a significant minority who live life as Candides, lapping up the panglossian nectar that Trump and Co. dole out to them. They fully accept that we live the best of all possible worlds and nothing could be changed to make it better.
Seeing a serving officer have his career destroyed by Trump, merely for doing his job with honor, loyalty, and integrity is particularly galling. Trump has not lived up to the authority entrusted to him.
O.K., we all know: “Everything Trump Touches, Dies.” If there’s ever a Trump memorial in Moscow, I’m sure that will be carved in marble somewhere under his statue.
