White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Monday vehemently defended President Trump when pressed on his lack of a nationally televised address as protests and unrest mount in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
After a reporter pointed out that he has yet to speak on Floyd’s death in a formal address, McEnany responded that she thinks “that is a misnomer in the media.”
A misnomer is when you refer to a pyrrhuloxia as a cardinal.
McEnany listed off quotes from Trump’s remarks while visiting the Kennedy Space Center on Saturday — which included calling Floyd’s death a “grave tragedy” — before doubling down on her argument that the President has not remained silent.
None of his remarks were made in a formal setting.
“The evidence is consistent with mechanical asphyxia as the cause of death and homicide as the manner of death,” Dr. Allecia Wilson said at a press conference Monday.
“The autopsy shows that Mr. Floyd had no underlying medical problem that caused or contributed to his death,” Baden said.
“He was in good health,” Baden continued. “The compressive pressure of the neck and back are not seen at autopsy because the pressure is released by the time the body comes to the medical office. It can only be seen while pressure is being applied. In this instance, it is captured on video.”
“My administration will stop mob violence, and we’ll stop it cold. It does not serve the interests of justice or any citizen of any race, color, or creed for the government to give in to anarchy…”
“What we won’t stop is the police violence that precipitated this great national upheaval. Nor will we offer any solution, practical or aspirational, to the structural racism that people are now waking up to due to nationwide protests. Tyrannical despots just don’t do that.”
The Floyd family’s lawyer, Benjamin Crump, ended the press conference by saying:
“Let’s remember to take a breath, America. Take a breath for George. Take a breath for peace. Take a breath for justice. And let’s take a breath to heal our country.”
“I could go on and on, but I would just be repeating what the President has already said,” McEnany said.
“I’d also soon be repeating myself, because 99% of the things the President has said and tweeted I do not wish to say again because the fake news media would turn them into misnomers to make the President look bad.”
