I was trying to suss out the nature vs nurture question, but he does seem like a hopeless case.

He probably didn’t have to pressure. Trump probably just asked and Barr said sure.

Because John Gidley aspired to this?

Yeah, I was thinking he’s probably in about the right age bracket (if maybe a little young). Maybe his parents were influenced and he probably went with it too?

Well he’s too young for this.

As a weirdly immature-seeming person—he’s early 40s going on socially inept 11-year-old—that could have something to do with it.

This is the GOP openly endorsing the Unitary Executive theory. The president has total control over the Executive Branch, DOJ is a federal executive department of the government, therefore Trump has absolute authority over DOJ, which makes him the chief law enforcement officer.

So how much did it cost to install the drive thru bribe window at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.?
Or would Trump hire car hops for this?

As could the obvious fact that he ain’t gettin’ any.

White House denies that trump told the truth.

Barr didn’t need pressure from Dump. He is totally in sync with him. He knows what Dump wants and does it.

That’s the job of the consigliere. Too much communication is dangerous.

“In fact, the attorney general and DOJ made very clear that they made this decision before any tweet went out,” Gidley said. “They made this decision on their own because they, in fact, were briefed on something as they said from the DOJ that didn’t actually end up happening. They were told something in that sentencing that didn’t come to fruition.”

After saying “that’s obviously something the DOJ will have to address,” Gidley doubled down on denying that Trump interfered with Stone’s sentencing by arguing that although he is “the chief law enforcement officer” who “has the right to do it,” he “just didn’t.”

We’ve no idea of that.

Maybe Trump and Barr have a Lee-Jackson type of relationship (one knowing what the other wants), but it says a lot that it was the recommendation that triggered all of this.
