I just want to express solidarity with Rhode College as they make clear to the willfully-unvaccinated that with Freedom comes Responsibility.

They have skyrocketed to Pre-Trump-Era-Normal-Behavior.

Look: This fukker has killed enough people. Okay…he’s a Cult Leader. It’s now time to grow up and be adults.

That’s wild, how a vehicle that size, the only sound it’s responsible for is some friction from the tires and the air it’s displacing.

GETTR, the social media platform launched by Trump’s allies, has GOTTen swamped with ISIS propaganda.

Oh, good. That means things are calming down over there.

As I understand it, that $450MM is funds that were allocated for COVID relief, but have not and will not be spent. So this bill reallocates them.

What I also understand is that almost all of these funds come from red states that refused to spend it, shutting down things like unemployment payments and rent support.

Because this is being reallocated, it means a significant part of it will go back to blue states. So the red states fucked themselves. I’m fine with that.

Papa Joe’s gonna launch the tactical nukes by lunchtime.

And have The Northern Wall built by dinner.

It is definitely not the kind of vehicle a cheating spouse would prefer…especially if it is primarily driven by the spouse being cheated on.

No sound being made of someone pulling up in the driveway

EXCELLENT… nothing like seeing them fuck themselves.

OK thanks… I hope this is correct. If it went unspent though it should revert to the Treasury, which means this whole framing as 550M in NEW SPENDING is to provide cover for the GOP (my opinion)

Before the Gloomies weigh in,

That’s good. And I’m using it. Gloomies gotta just look at what’s cradled in their arms right now - today! Sure, Lucy still holds the football but passing both pieces of infrastructure legislation will be a ginormous victory for Biden and the Democratic Party. Republicans not so much by comparison. And yes, all this winning to be followed by voting rights legislation as Biden’s popularity polling passes 70%. Timing is everything!

Yes, I think this is true. Technically, it’s all new spending, but the Republicans get to pretend it’s not.

TOO BAD the Media, including TPM, is providing the cover for them.

And we should not ever disparage disciplined hope. I remember reading the Stephen Ambrose work on D-Day. Some of the troops were trained to the point of hope, if you know what I mean.

As was Eisenhower’s hope in a young meteorologist.

Yes, in comparison with all the diesel pickups running around with extra loud after market exhaust systems. Electrics don’t need all that heavy exhaust plumbing and cooling contraptions. Park them in a garage with solar panels on the roof and there is no fuel charge either. There’s a better chance they will be able to operate when temperatures get up into the hundred and high teens range when conventional internal combustion vehicles will be blowing radiators.

Listening to BBC World this am, in a piece on Japan’s high speed trains, they pointed to the innovation of having electric motors for every wheel rather than an engine to pull the train.

Responding to myself to slightly change the topic: I remember in 2016 a couple of days after the election some pundit said that the election of Trump would increase the disparity in quality of life between the blue states and the red states. The governments of the blue states would step in where the federal government went out, and the red states would accelerate their race to the bottom.

I’ve found this to be a particularly astute observation, and it seems true. A lot of blue states have done things like increase the minimum wage and things like that. The COVID pandemic has accelerated it even more: the blue states got better cash injections into their economies, are going to have better mortality and morbidity outcomes, etc. The rural parts of the red states are becoming shithole countries.

" Pelosi argued in her statement that House legislation to continue the ban “will not be sufficient” because the Senate, largely hamstrung by the filibuster, is unlikely to take it up."

Your move Manchin and Schumer. Schumer needs to put this up for a vote at the very least right the hell now.

Eta: the house has introduced it but not taken it up

China has a 600 km/hr magnalev train going. They still need to build tracks, however. Eventually these will run friction free in vacuum tunnels and could go super sonic. Pray to The Jetsons.
