We just had open notice here (San Antonio) that our University HS hospital had 11K doses. They had a sign up system to get a slot for an appointment. All filled up now but that was expected. My wife and I just had notice from our providers that they were formulating their process and would notify us when they had availability and update us as things firmed up, meaning they had their supply. A friend of ours in the Houston area was notified by mail and given a slot and appointment opportunity which she took. Most of that is about what I expected and we are patient. The idea of signing up on a cheesy, on the fly web app boggles me in terms of planning. Of course, for the moment, I am somewhere down the road, a year too young, but I can expect to see my wife protected not too far in the future.

Don’t give him too much credit. Republicans in the VA General Assembly had been blocking the Medicaid expansion. Then, in the 2017 elections, they almost lost control of the Assembly, despite very strong gerrymandering in their favor–control was literally decided by a coin toss.
Some Republicans, like this guy, saw the writing on the wall and thought they would try to get ahead of it and get some good publicity and hoped maybe everyone would forget they had been obstructing it. So they passed the expansion. It wasn’t out of the goodness of their hearts; they hoped to save their majority by doing the expansion.
Fortunately, it didn’t work. In 2019, we took control of the Assembly–yay! And the Medicaid expansion was already done!

And we won’t be filing any tax returns either. Red states will go broke fast if they can’t get their hands on blue state revenues and federal welfare for the corporate monopolies.

With the new mutant strains circulating widely, we have to be even more careful, more paranoid than we have been since this started. It is the last mile and it is straight uphill. The miracle vaccine is already protecting people. If anyone is a licensed provider who is part time or retired, your towns and states will need thousands of volunteer vaccinators. My state (CT) sought us out and I am guessing that other places are doing the same. Anyone interested should contact state and local health departments. How tragic it would be to have the vaccines available but not enough people to administer them. Hopefully, Biden will have a plan to activate and mobilize vaccinators nationwide.

This distribution needs to be handled by the healthcare professionals who know your individual and unique medical needs. We also got an email from our primary care providers telling us that they will be the source for our vaccines and are now formulating how best means to get them to us.
Those red states setting up on-the-fly, wait-in-long-lines distributions for whatever vaccines that will be available tomorrow by private drugstores and emergency care facilities are going to screw up magnificently. How will anyone get that second dose in the time period necessary to make the shots effective?
They won’t. There has to be coordination. It’s going to be a big waste of vaccine and the cause of death for millions. Just to be able to push your neighbors out of the way to get to the vaccine first? That’s anarchy and so greedy, selfish conservative family values.

You must be doing something right, so far. One big problem may be that we trust our friends and family too much. Everyone has a different idea of what due diligence means and it only takes one person to be careless for a short period of time. Hang on. The end is in sight.
