Utah Republicans Try To Accuse Romney Of Treason In Upcoming Censure Vote

Delegates to Utah’s Emery County Republican Party Convention are planning to censure Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) for providing “aid and comfort” — the language the Constitution uses to define treason — to Democrats.

It seems the utah wing of the fascist cult considers anyone other than a nazi-loving, racist, bigoted pos to be guilty of treason. You shall not speak ill of our corrupted putinpuppet or we will ‘Lock You Up’.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the national cult included that in their platform (should they ever feel the need for a platform).

Gov. Spencer Cox is also up for re-election.

Somebody with a brain and that’s not any UT repub should be on his dumb ass for this.

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney said he’s open to endorsing Arizona independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, and even campaigning for her, if she decides to run for the Senate again in 2024.

“I’m not saying no, I could very easily endorse Sen. Sinema,” Romney said, according to an article on Sinema in Politico. He said she is “one of the senators that is able to pull people together and actually get legislation passed.”

> she has been highly critical of Democratic leaders when speaking at private meetings and events. This has given some Republicans hope she would caucus with her GOP Senate colleagues instead of with Democrats, the article said.

My take on this letter: the label Republican is now conflated with American. If you are not a Republican, then you cannot be the other. Aside from the blind (maybe a new phrase) political bigotry they represent, these Republicans constitute an extremist wing that puts them at odds with members of their own caucus. They want a fight with members who will not support nutty conspiracies and imaginary crises. Romney remains undecided about running for reelection in 2024. For Utah, he is probably the most reasoned candidate one could expect. That realization makes me sad.

“The censure resolution also attacks Romney for participating in a Black Lives Matter protest…”

“How DARE him suggest that any lives but pink ones matter?!”

According to the logic of the Utah Republicans, any conscious behavior and act of disagreement is now deemed treasonous.

TBH I couldn’t care less what the UT Repugs do to Romney, up or down; before the biggest liar of them all came along, that title belonged to Mitt; e.g., The Long Con | Rick Perlstein

If the fascist nutjobs destroy enough so-called moderate Republicans – AKA moderately civil, not spittle-flecked or grossly overt revanchist reactionaries – maybe the message will get through to enough voters to really matter in places where that matters a lot.

ETA:

Amen to that!

I was going for parallelism there. But I thank you.

but only by republicans. If you’re a citizen of these United States, you are, ipso facto, an American.

@tindalos I certainly liked BHO’s “please proceed governor.”

Republicans see Democrats as the enemy not as someone to work with. They are considered the “OTHER” and not American. This is not “agree to disagree” or “work with the other side on things that are good for the American people”. It’s they (the Democrats) are EVIL, and you must oppose everything that they stand for and work toward. It’s insane.

Whereas, in paragraph one of the proposed censure resolution, the words “Democratic party” are used,

Whereas, in paragraph two of the proposed censure resolution, the words “Democratic party” are used,

Whereas, in paragraph four of the proposed censure resolution, the words “Democrat Party” are used,

Whereas, in paragraph five of the proposed censure resolution, the words “Democrat Party” are used,

Be it resolved that the proposed censure resolution is inconsistent in its spelling and capitalization of the words “Democratic party” and “Democrat Party” and not be adopted.

LDS values at work here. The (personal and/or immediate family) end always justifies the means. Fortunately, perhaps, they do this to one another as well as to gentiles. In Utah and much of the west, the GOP is an LDS tool. “America” is secondary to American Zion over which the LDS is destined to rule. Americans, anyone, who are not part of the chosen are gentiles, destined for perdition unless, like I, they’ve been baptized by proxy by well meaning family and/or friends. Whatever advances those ends near term or long is quite alright. It’s good to remember that the LDS are incredibly wealthy institutionally speaking, and are well placed in all levels of government in many States, as well as the federal government. While not accurately “evangelical,” they see themselves fit to so identify, as it serves their purpose of gaining power and influence. While Romney and Sinema are far apart in some respects, in my opinion they will always act self interestedly when push comes to shove, and will justify their action as being somehow more pure and righteous because how could it be otherwise.
