Years ago, probably in the Obama administration I saw a show, probably on PBS about how kids are fed in France. Now what they were showing was a small school in a small town. There were these women in the school that cooked real food for the kids. The school looked liked it was K-6th grade. The children set the tables, served each other, and cleaned up after the meal.
So the backlash against Michelle was surprising to me when I was reading the comments from the residents in the next Congressional district over, it’s mid-Missouri with things like farms and stuff. And the parents were complaining about how much food the kids didn’t eat, and I though to myself do you cook healthy food at home, have you expanded your kid’s diet to more than chicken nuggets and pizza?
When I was in high school we still had some cooks in the high school cafeteria. And though these wouldn’t pass Michelle’s healthy eating guidelines, they used to actually bake a thousand made from scratch dinner rolls. Those rolls were the size of saucer and you could eat just one and be full.
There is a little glimmer of hope today: donald and the third wife depart for Mal a Lardo at 4:00 pm EST; I am hopeful that none of them ever returns to D.C, unless they are in custody and cuffs. And, only 28 days until Joe Biden is sworn in as 46th POTUS!
The GOP fascist death cult chants ‘don’t let the cure be worse than the disease’, when clearly the vast majority of excess deaths are from covid. The disinformation, misquoting of statistics, and just bald lying from those nazi fuckers about this point is horrible. They ARE trying to kill us.
Face it. Trump is mad at every single person in this country. In his head, because he finds them lacking, death is a punishment for lack of loyalty. So if the numbers stack up, for him, it is square. That is the mind of this man. He cannot empathize with the dying and the sick. To avoid the struggle to do so, he has rationalizations that would boggle the rest of us trying to make.
Trump is living his delusion and insisting we all fit into it. Even, begrudgingly Pat Robertson gets it.
Same here. There were some items that came from a central kitchen, but almost everything else was made on site. I don’t know if Tex-Mex day is still a thing here (San Antonio), but nobody ate out or brought a lunch on Wednesdays. Too good to miss. Michelle would have passed out in a dead feint if she saw that heh. Now Friday Pizza, that was something else altogether starting with the hubris of calling it pizza.
My wife informed me yesterday that one of her co-workers died on Saturday from Covid-19. Different shifts, so she never got to know him very well, but the news is nevertheless hard to take. Hits home kinda hard.
If mortality was down in 2019, it’s plausibly to consider that it would have ticked down even a little further in 2020 if not for the pandemic. That would put excess death numbers even higher.
