I always understood the history of Kansas City professional sports teams, though, to choose their names to reflect royalty and positions of power. Royals, Kings, Monarchs, Chiefs…
Their old NHL Scouts team dropped the ball, though. As did the Wizards, very unfortunately named the Wiz, before that.
Sporting KC, though, just rocks!

Donad J Trump: Nobody, Nobody has done more for minorities than me. During my administration confederate flags have been banned and statues removed. Bases will be renamed, racist barnds have been phased out and even the insulting “redskins” are changing their moniker. Obama and his sidekick sleepy Joe Biden accomplished absolutely nothing in 8 years!!!

“The Washington Redskins are actually worth a lot more than what they own,” Ronald Goodstein, associate professor of marketing at Georgetown University told The Washington Times. “How much would a name change cost me, if I’m Dan Snyder? The answer is hundreds of millions of dollars.”
But:
“The biggest cost is not developing a new name and mark,” Allen Adamson, managing director of Landor Associates and whose past client includes the NFL, told the Washington Post. “The biggest cost by far is applying it to all the points of touch that a brand like the Redskins exists on: merchandise, signage, training facilities and the stadium. That would be several million dollars, probably under $5 million. They can do it aggressively in six months, sometimes even less. Sometimes it can take a couple years to do the transition.”

Yes, as this topic just sprang out of nowhere and caught the entire organization unawares, it’s only right a “thorough review” be undertaken.

I don’t find “braves” insulting, after all among the Plain Indians it was something that all male aspired to be. “Indians” is a little more complicated as it’s obviously a misnomer a 500 year one, in English is not that bad, but for those us that grew in Spanish speaking countries it is a word that can be used with so much contempt, that it became a dirty word, we avoid using it even to refer to people from India.
You can make an argument that names like Indians, Braves, and Chiefs are not offensive.
Redskins, not so much.
