It wasn’t supposed to take this long. There is no way now that Putin saves face. At this point it doesn’t matter what happens in Ukraine anymore, this is going to to be a major humiliation to Russia, and it was caused by the guy that had made a career of restoring the Rodina’s pride. He might not know it, but Putin’s political life is over.

We’ll never know for certain, but had they been less foot-dragging about things like the EU and NATO years ago, Ukraine very likely would be at peace today.

Also, if you believe that Putin wouldn’t have needed to invade if the “I need you to do me a favor, though” guy were still occupying the White House, disrupting any European response to Russian coup fomenting, how would you answer the question posed?

I think Ukraine didn’t want to provoke Russia into doing what they’re doing now. Now that the worst has come to pass Ukraine is free to protect itself from Russia. The gloves are definitely off.

31 years ago today, the U.N. officially declared the end of the Operation Desert Storm. Except nobody bothered to tell the Iraqis or Allied Forces who still in the sandbox.
Here’s a good series of photos published by the Atlantic on the 25th Anniversary of the end of this war. Mr. Hatmama is included in two of the photos. He lives with the ghosts every night. There is no glory, honor, or worry about going home. You do the job you were trained for. It is gruesome and deadly.
I support and honor those men, women, and families in Ukraine. They never declared war on anyone. But, they will pay the price and have the memories of this attack on them by a barbarian in Moscow.
