No thanks. but as a 72-year-old diabetic with high blood pressure and type-A blood, I’ll take what comfort I can. I don’t want to die before I vote and see the returns. This appears promising.

It appears to work for patients who are in serious to critical condition but I fear that this will be twisted to make it sound like a cure to justify opening up to prop up the stock market and economy before the 2020 election. It will lower the death rate but I don’t think they know if it will prevent permanent organ damage in the survivors.
Basically, this has one huge benefit (it reduces the death rate, and is probably not an obscure mechanism – my doctor once shot me up with Lord knows what steroids to treat really bad inflammation in my tonsils. And if you’re 80 years old and dying of Covid-19, I think the side effects are acceptable, even if your liver and kidney go on permanent strike.
What it doesn’t do is control the spread. If Covid-19 were a lot less contagious, we wouldn’t be having this discussion because there would be no pandemic. Thus, the social distancing rules, which are the only way currently known to reduce person-to-person spread. This is a non-issue in Asia, where masks seem to be a fashion statement in crowded areas, and not just during pandemics. And both NY and the EU are getting this somewhat under control. (China has the advantage of being an authoritarian state, and South Korea has a tendency to obey public health orders.)

yeah, you also have to taper off of them even when the use was realitivley short but high dose. I think the people you worry most about are the sort who would take Hydroxychloroquine made for aquarium use because Trump said it was good
