Hardly. They’ve put the dog-whistle out there to the followers, that’s all that was needed. Now they can step back and just let their followers run with it while they officially disavow any knowledge of gambling in this establishment.
They seem to have expanded the “blame the media” bit.
As much as we complain about it, the Fourth Estate is a robust part of our polity–and about as dependable as the Post Office (and our Military wisdom to not stage a coup, like many Third World starts of governments). Blaming the Fourth Estate (which is amazingly free) is like blaming the refs.
"I expect that they will engage in dirty tactics,” Harris told TheGrio. “And this is going to be a knockdown, drag-out. And we’re ready.”
Mike Pence may call his wife “mother”, but he’ll be calling Kamala Harris “daddy.”

I don’t know, @castor_troy. As I remember, Republicans (especially Trump) never let the birth-certificate thing go, not even to the last of Obama’s days as President. Seems to me they folded here pretty quickly.
I had the misfortune to be near a tv during that presser, and the subject was brought up out of the blue by a reporter. Trump seemed to be unaware, or at least unprepared for this issue, and went with his boilerplate BS.
If the reporter had not brought it up I doubt it would have seen the light at this event. The press gives things legs than are better off ignored, or not even mentioned because the subject doesn’t merit it.
This was a case of the press giving this whole stupid thing oxygen when it would likely have died even over at FOX once somebody thought about it.
When the reporter asked about the Q Anon weirdo in Georgia. This was different because she is likely going to the House in January, but trump’s non-answer answer was brushed away. After all, it was just trump being trump. We know that he is a racist and a conspiracy theory fan as well as a liar.
If Biden had done something similar the headline would have been BIDEN GAFFES AGAIN.
Tired of it. Anyone else?
And he’ll be crying “uncle”.
For anybody who needs a Constitutional Law class on this issue read United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898). It disposes of the issue in short order. It is taught in every law school in America. Mostly in the first year.
Be careful now, Trump and his GOP buddies have a hard time understanding big words . . . like logical.
Side note: In the fifth grade I wanted to be a journalist. I settled on being a researcher (who traveled) specializing in American colonial history, as well as the Southern part (Latin America).
Yeah…I chickened out.
Trumpworld Shoots Down Harris Birther Lie POTUS Floated, Blames Media For It Instead
- ‘Tsunami of untruths’: Trump has made 20,000 false or misleading claims – report-https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jul/13/donald-trump-20000-false-or-misleading-claims
20,000 plus at least 1 more which makes it 20,001.
MyPants will be calling for his mommy when Harris is through with him. If Mother lets him participate, that is.
Trumpworld is just mailing it in.
Oh, wait…
… at the end of the day, it’s something that’s out there.
… which is the whole point. It no longer matters what the “official” response is once the story is sucked in and granted immortality in the infinite self-reflecting bubble that is the Right Wing media. And the MSM will, of course, as useful idiots keep reporting on the non-story if Fox News and “friends” whine loudly enough about it. Conservatives have been doing this since at least Kerry’s Swift Boating and they aren’t going to stop now.
The problem with the media is that they don’t have enough time or reporters to report all the bullshit that comes from Trump, his maladministration and his state media. They go for the easy low-hanging fruit like this, but never see all the rotten fruit higher up in the tree that’s going to make an even bigger mess when it falls.
Birtherism v. 2.0, for example, has largely obscured the withdrawal of Trump’s nominee to head the Department of the Interior, one of the most horrifying choices he’s made.
I am tired of propaganda and bad journalism, yes.
And the greedy fuckers who enable them.
Just like I hate sadistic cops, pedophile teachers and quack medics.
But you obviously learned enough Latin to get by…
But folks like trump were on the outside, not running against Obama. Unless I’m forgetting something, McCain and Romney didn’t play a role in spreading things, certainly not with any sort of official capacity within their campaigns.
That looks to be what they want to do here-- they know it’s not a good look for the campaign to be going all conspiracy-theory, so now that it’s out there, just let their minions run with it online.
If they are backing off this it’s only because Nikki Haley and Marco Rubio are both have exactly the same situation of being born in the US before their parents were naturalized. If they claim Harris is not qualified they are saying Rubio and Haley are also not qualified.
The proper protocol would be “Mistress”.
Whipped that one out quick…
