It is disturbing…..bordering on terrifying……..for anyone working with young people in this country to realize how few, if any life skills they have. They do not have any patience or acceptance of any task that they consider “hard”, and any first attempt that fails leads to abandonment of the project. They have little if any curiosity and ingenuity. This is not true of all, and there are plenty of outstanding young people who are engaged and creative and stand to be the leaders of the future. But unfortunately they will be burdened with a lot of the aforementioned dullards who will be helpeless to cope with everyday life. The gulf between the two is huge and getting bigger, and I fear that the idea that nobody needs to know anything, just look it up on your phone, and accept whatever an AI bot spits out is making it worse. I am glad I am old. I do not want to be here when this particular shit hits the fan.
