Macron turned down the $1 billion Board of Peace

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 200% tariff on French wine and champagne after an aide for French President Emmanuel Macron said France “does not intend” to accept an invitation to join his new international “Board of Peace.”

“Nobody wants him because he’s going to be out of office very soon,” Trump said after hearing from a reporter that Macron would likely not join the board.

Macron is in office into 2027. Term limited.

Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump’s Greenland saber-rattling. That’s $750 billion of wealth destroyed – roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland.

And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we’ve got nothing to show for it.

Also, Trump is NOT getting Greenland. Period.

Carney is the kind of PM that we should have as a president.

I wonder if Keir Starmer doesn’t end up getting the Neville Chamberlain treatment. He’s devoid of charisma, doesn’t have any principles, and has tried to muddle his way through Trump’s second term by being a slavish toady. Confronted with Trump’s fixation on territorial expansion he’s struggled to even articulate a response besides some consultant-speak gibberish. His only real saving grace is that the would-be usurpers in Labour (prominently Wes Streeting) are just as unpopular as him.

The Hmong gentleman, a victim of racial profiling, mistaken identity and lack of even the slightest bit of confirmation that the info they were acting on without a warrant was close to correct.

Thao said agents drove him “to the middle of nowhere” and made him get out of the car in the frigid weather so they could photograph him. He said he feared they would beat him. He was asked for his ID, which agents earlier prevented him from retrieving.
>
Agents eventually realized that he was a U.S. citizen with no criminal record, Thao said, and an hour or two later, they brought him back to his house. There they made him show his ID and then left without apologizing for detaining him or breaking his door, Thao said.

Hey, we brought him back without beating him or mistakenly deporting him for three weeks.

From the MM..

The Mad King
President Trump is marauding through the Arctic and NATO and basic good sense in such a disinhibited and public way that it’s giving rise to new calls for the invocation of the 25th Amendment. That’s not happening, but his jangly grip on reality is already doing grave damage to the North Atlantic alliance.
… … ..

NO KINGS GODDAMMIT!!

Impeach him or 25th him but REMOVE HIM!!

I currently see no path by which I am alive in three years. Or anyone else. None. Fuck, the Nazis “just” wanted a number of select people. The GOP? They want to kill the whole planet. Tell me who’s worse?
