I guess I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that one private organization, with a certain ideology of how a country should be run, has gained control over an administration headed by a guy who is so incompetent. I never really thought that this country could be thrown into this sort of mess that The Heritage Foundation has scripted.

Yes, I think it is advantageous to remember that there is a coalition of unpalatable interests on the right.
At some point (which I wish would come sooner rather than later,) their differences have to bring more of them into conflict.

Trump is an empty vessel when it comes to policy so the Heritage guys were all too happy to fill the void. It did not hurt that their policy prescriptions dovetailed nicely with Trump’s retribution agenda.
