Trump Wants Unilateral Power To Destroy Nonprofits. Congress Can Block It.

He hardly needs a horse as a senator when he can have Republican senators approve any horses butt to his cabinet.

You can stop wondering. It is. That’s all this is. I’ve told this story before but it’s worth retelling. Back in the early 90s shortly after the fat asshole suspiciously emerged from his first bankruptcy that most people thought had finished him, he had lunch with Sir Richard Branson. For years, Branson related the story that during the entire lunch all the fat asshole talked about was getting even, and he had a long list of people he checked off for Branson. Now, mind you, these people didn’t actively do anything to bankrupt him, the stupid moron did that all by himself. He was raging at these people - because they didn’t step in to bail him out (much like his father bailed his worthless ass out again and again). Branson came away from the lunch reeling and sick to his stomach because he was sure the fat asshole had lost his mind.

Now, imagine what he’s going to do with the power of the American government and a long list of people who actively came after him. Yeah, we’re facing the madness of a king.

It is very simple.

It would be nice if you could be more timely on reporting these types of bills so we have a chance to respond? This appeared the day of the vote.

Day of is still better than after the fact (or never), which is what i expect from mainstream news orgs.

Agree that i would like to hear more of what is being done (or could still be done) to close some additional windows ahead of the coming storm.

They Judge shop, surely we can too. I’m sure there are plenty of judges in California that will be happy to hear the case.

Political action committees are organized as non profits. None of them should be. This bill in these people’s hands would certainly be abused to make the Democratic PACs cost 25% more, while leaving the Republican PAC’s a revolving door between slush funds.

So – correct me if I am wrong, those of you who are lawyers, but non-profits are incorporated, yes? And hasn’t SCOTUS ruled that corporations are persons? And that they have First Amendment rights? And if they have First Amendment rights, don’t they have other Constitutional rights granted to persons, like the right to due process?

Granted, the current SCOTUS is not exactly noted for its consistency, but I don’t see how this bill passes a constitutionality smell test even with them.

First they came for the non-profits they see as threats.
Then they’ll come for media outlets – newspapers, magazines, TV stations that fail to slobber over Dear Leader.
Then they’ll come for Josh, and you and me.

Hitler had all newspapers not friendly to the Nazis shut down in 6 mos after taking office.

IANAL but isn’t “due process” a tradition from British common law? Smite me if need me with truth and facts.
