Trump Tweet Flagged For Again Encouraging Voters To Act Illegally By Double-Voting | Talking Points Memo

Will Bill Barr seems to have embraced the Nixonian declaration " When the president does it, that means it is ‘not illegal’," and generalized it to something like 'When a Republican President or administration does it, that means it is ‘not illegal’.

It certainly seems as if Barr/Trump; have embraced (and then some) GW Bush’s statement “If this were a dictatorship it would be a heck of a lot easier… as long as I’m the dictator. Hehehe.”

The flaw for me is that throughout the memo it is ignored that we actually do have a vice president who’s first job it is to step in at a moment’s notice and take over …as has happened in our history

10 Propaganda Tricks Hitler Used to Sway the German People

1. Appeal to the fears and hatreds of a constituency that feels they are being wronged or marginalized by the governmental powers that be. In Hitler’s case, he played upon the average Germans’ fear they were being ignored by their own failing government and industries. Remember, Germany too was in its own Great Depression following WWI.

2. Harken back to the days of historical pride . In his speeches, Hitler shouted that Germany was once a great and powerful nation. And was in fact winning World War I, until weak politicians and cowardly generals gave up and surrendered their country to the Allies of Britain, France and Russia. Only the Nazis could make Germany great once again.

3. Portray yourself as an Outsider , as the only one who can unite the troubled nation and fix the country’s many problems. Play upon a divided parties of government, with their combativeness and stagnation, leaving the door open for a tyrant like Hitler to step into the leadership vacuum with a radical Nationalist message of the Nazis, one the people feverishly embraced.

4. Use contemporary advertising techniques to convey your messages over and over again to the public. Hitler and Goebbels expertly used radio, movies, posters and pamphlets to flood Germany with their Facist message. Repetitive propaganda delivers a kind of feedback loop, each cycle reinforcing the one before. It tapped into the deep-seeded bigotry of the populace.

5. Repeat lies often enough and the people will believe they are true . Lie about people, parties, countries, even religions. Facts that do not support the narrative are deemed ‘Fake’ and even unpatriotic or subversive. Your opponents actions show they must hate their own country. The Nazis used book burnings with great success to demonize any ideas counter to that of the Third Reich.

6. Intellectuals and journalists were suspected of being Socialists or even worse, Communists ! So discredit them as the “elites” Plant distrust with the populace in their own public universities, the Press, even the judiciary … until such time that YOU control them all behind the scenes, from within. Then they become your propaganda mouthpiece.

7. Extreme Nationalism resonates with those who see themselves as disenfranchised , even if they technically are middle class. So the demagoguery and totalitarianism of Hitler was ultimately seen as acceptable. The goal is not to gain 100% of minds, but 100% of Emotions – so convince their hearts of your twisted vision, and the mind surrenders its logic.

8. Ethics, legitimacy and even religious decency can be ‘Back-burnered’ for the greater cause, sometimes for a generation. So bigotry, racism, xenophobia and sexism were simply ‘an ends to a means’ for the Nazis. Put your Christian values aside. We all think bad thoughts in private, so why not mainstream them and shout it out loud? Or better yet, take to the streets and act upon them!

9. You need a Scapegoat to rally against. People who don’t look, think or pray like us. A particular race, religion, or faction who are the root cause of all the problems facing hard-working Germans. In Hitler’s case, this was the Jews and migrant Gypsies. Portray them as dangerous, criminal, and even sub-human . After all, who could trust such people? Why risk it? Better to round them all up and deport them!

10 . Exploitation of PATRIOTISM was the ultimate ‘ace up the sleeve.’ Hitler spoke with fanatical pride in front of rows of Nazi flags and fanatical cheering crowds. He demanded deference to HIS leadership alone. Paint the opposition an unpatriotic or better yet, Traitors! When blind nationalism rules, it’s then acceptable to employ the last and final step – Violence .

There’s more than one flaw in it. It’s ridiculous to make a president immune from prosecution for crimes on the basis that a president has too much to do that is important. If that president arguably is a criminal, it is more important that he or she stop what they are doing and let us determine whether they should be in the job at all. That’s what criminal laws are about in part - addressing the harm someone has done to society.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-11/qanon-website-shuts-down-after-n-j-man-identified-as-operator
A popular website for posts about the conspiracy group QAnon abruptly shut down after a fact-checking group identified the developer as a New Jersey man.

Qmap.pub is among the largest websites promoting the QAnon conspiracy, with over 10 million visitors in July, according to web analytics firm SimilarWeb Ltd., and served as the primary archive of QAnon’s posts. The website aggregates posts by Q, the anonymous figure behind the QAnon theory, and the creator of the Qmap.pub website is known online only as “QAppAnon.”

The fact-checking site Logically.ai identified Jason Gelinas of New Jersey on Sept. 10 as the “developer and mouthpiece” for the site. New Jersey state records connect QAppAnon to Gelinas’s home address, Bloomberg found.

He reportedly works as an information security analyst at Citigroup.

Trump is clearly a criminal.

Nothing in criminal law, as I understand it, prevents trump from having to deal with the law after he is out of office for acts while he was in office. There is no double jeopardy as the only thing impeachment can do is remove someone from office. Hamilton had somewhat to say about this point in the Federalist papers.
I am thinking of his serial child abuse of putting innocent kids in cages to cause pain and anguish of separation from their families. It was meant as a deterrent against other refugees who might seek to come here.

Maybe the AG of NC should sue Trump for encouraging voter fraud. A good place to start.

But realize that this malarkey from Trump is just his usual style. He doesn’t know if anything will come of it, but it stirs things up and gives him press. Just like the whole birther thing. Later, he dismissed the birther conspiracy, but the TV entertainment/infotainment shows had given him repeated opportunities to push birtherism… it really gave him huge press.

Tena, yours is the ultimate argument. How can we as a people countenance a President who is engaging in criminal activity. It violates every principle that underlies a government according to law. And rather that block prosecution of a lawless chief executive, our laws and policies should provide for a rational and legal – not political – process to remedy such a situation.

Under the current circumstances, a “president” such as Trump who has no ethics and no moral compass also has no incentive to act in a lawful manner. Quite the contrary, he has every incentive to do anything he damn well pleases as we have witnessed for the past three plus years. This must change.

See post 13 or 14 where I posted the DoJ memo and summary. That’s what keeps trump from legal deep doo doo while in office. Nannybot (that’s discobot by name) gets pissed if I post it twice. Getting reelected is a get outta jail card for donald.

Yes I agree completely and I think the root of a lot of the problem of the lawlessness we are seeing could be addressed with just addressing that fucking memo which is all it is.

Just issue another memo that supersedes that one and says that the first memo is void. The President isn’t immune from criminal prosecution while in office. Spell it out: If a President is indicted for a crime impeach and remove that president and let the authorities have him or her. Or if you can’t remove the president like we weren’t able to, try him or her anyway and then if that person is convicted, make it mandatory that they be convicted and removed. There is nothing in the constitution that prevents this spelling out of how it’s going to work procedurally. We could put all of this shit to bed once and for all.
