Trump Tries Desperate And Damaging New Tack As He Refuses To Accept Loss | Talking Points Memo

The other day, I heard Bernie Sanders on TV admonishing and ridiculing Trump for their behavior. While he is correct I that this behavior is horrible and dangerous to democracy, I was struck by the complete lack of self awareness that the Supreme Namer of Vermont Post Offices was displaying. This man-baby has spent the last four years claiming that the primary in2016 was rigged, with absolutely zero evidence. His supporters caused mayhem at certain caucus locations. And some of the electors in states that HRC won voted for him.

You know, I have had the feeling since the W Bush days that there is a thin wall between us living in a semi-functional democratic republic and utter chaos. Over the last 20 years, that wall has thickened and thinned. Surely characters like Sarah Palin and Mitch McConnel have done their part to pave the way for the wrecking ball that is Donal Trump. But Sanders is not blameless here.

Some good news. But I think that the Trumpers have pretty much given up on legal challenges to the election outcome. It’s political shenanigans and manipulation from here on out.

The legal battle for Michigan is over. The political battle begins.

Hell no, he’s got to go!

We’re going to have to rework more of these chants.

or sending it to the House, where Trump would almost surely win.

Huh? Why would this be the case?

This suit was intended to stop certification in Wayne County, MI. It’s moot.

Trump leaving his mark on American history.

(Quite proud of myself for saying “mark” rather than “shitstain.”)

When the House votes on the issue it’s not one vote for every representative, it’s one vote per state and there are more Republican states than Democratic ones.

“It would be the end of democracy as we know it,” Douglas said. “This is just not a thing that can happen.”

I quibble with the conditional.

Haha! There’ll be 13 more lawsuits by end of the week. They’re going to keep filing these ad infinitum.

Okay, but what about the State Board of Canvassers? As the article implied, Trump and his gang are reaching out to these state and local GOP operatives to strong arm them into refusing certification thereby forcing it to go to Republican state legislatures.

Wasting time is the goal. The longer they keep the Biden team away from the agencies, the more time they have to secure and shred documents. I assume the copiers are working overtime to print out thousands of copies of mundane regulations in order to bury important documents.

Skidmark… same difference.

But these rural states represent a minority of Americans. It’s not even close.

There is that but the results in MI are not close. Biden won by a large margin.

At least for now there is a contingent in the incoming administration, including most importantly Biden, that’s in favor of moving on from Trump after the inauguration. But by the time we get to the finish line on this election and rid ourselves of Trump I wonder if emotions will be so frayed and resentful more than a few may swing over to “Let’s gut this guy like a fish on the dock.”

I hope he’s getting some kind of protection against the terrorists there.

I’m thinking Trump is stalling. He knows he lost and Biden won. He can’t change it. But he can delay things in order to make a deal about his post presidency prospects or just to stall to cover some tracks. Hell, he may want more time to just fuck things up royally for Biden and his team. Who da fuq knows with Trump?
But no one gives him a chance of overturning the election results.

Doesn’t matter.

As noted:

California’s delegation gets one vote and so does Wyoming’s.

Shall we drink again to the wisdom of the Founders?

He wants a ‘stabbed in the back’ narrative to keep the believers ginned up over the next four years. He will carry on fleecing them and run again in 2024.
