He’s taking a victory lap and saying republicans “had a good day,” and that it’s “devastating day for the Democrats,” because it will be Reported he says these things in the press. These things will be in the ‘headlines’. And most people absorb news through headlines and in the background. So the reporting of this will make it true for the majority of busy over worked Americans who don’t have the time or are not news junkies.

The Republicans and Trump finally learned today that Barr is not all that. He’s scamming them and he isn’t as bright as he appears.
First, the GOPers all seemed to suggest that it was a mistake for Barr to have released the report. Mueller was killing them all day confirming incident after incident.
They tried to go at Mueller for leaking the letter he sent to Barr accusing him of mischaracterizing Mueller’s findings. The only reason for that is b/c they think Barr made a mistake giving the Dems 4 months to digest this report.
Second, Barr’s attempt to limit Mueller’s testimony was effectively used by Mueller as a shield to ward off any conspiracy theories. That rendered Nunes useless. You could see the frustration on his face.
Third, we learned that Flynn is still being investigated. Barr will not have any political capital to protect Flynn. He’s going to go down hard.
Fourth, protecting Trump on the Cohen-Daniels matter has real costs. Barr can’t help the GOP or Trump much on the other multiple loose ends here.
Fifth, Barr lost the Census battle and is increasingly unable to keep Dems from getting the truth about what’s going on in the detention centers.
Barr has been using the GOP and manipulating Trump.
I’d expect his status to dim a bit.

More important than the president’s victory lap will be AG Barr’s anticipated interviews in which he will mischaracterize the hearings. Barr will continue to claim that his summary does not conflict with Mueller’s. The sophistry will be at levels never seen before.

The truth doesn’t make a difference to Trump because he is just an actor playing a role on TV. According the the script he is a smart “President” who is brilliant and adored but has been falsely accused of doing wrong by his enemies who have sorted motives to be biased against him. I hope this show gets canceled.

Except, who else is there for Trump to replace him with? Trump cannot put his family in all of these positions, and if he could, he might well suddenly discover that they may be loyal but also ineffective.
