Trump is akin to Charles Lindbergh somehow gained the presidency and giving telegraphed and radio orders to his Nazi followers to harass and attack fellow Americans. Literally the plot against America.

Sorry, but not all police departments support the Proud Boys. I know the Chiefs of Police in multiple cities and I also went to school with some of them. Those guys most certainly are not racists. Don’t let the racists who have burrowed into some cities infect your thinking about all. Generalizations can be stereotyping.

But I can’t help but feel that someone’s hair should be on fire - the president is openly calling for a stop to the election and implying there will be violence if he doesn’t win.
If that is not hair on fire language, I guess we are much farther along the happy road to authoritarianism than I thought. The cardinal sign of coming violence is when someone says they are going to be violent. With the release of his taxes, Trump is like a rabid raccoon, and there is absolutely nothing he would not consider to save his own cheating ass.
The president is openly trying to delegitimize the election every day and sending out tricksters to try and create phony voter fraud “evidence”. He has the criminal conspiracy formerly known as the DOJ foursquare behind him.
Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?
Can we stop acting like these dopes have critical mass? They don’t. Without their AKs they’re girly men.

It seems like most authorities on groups like this and their ideologies are reluctant to guess how many individuals there are in them. But they never say it’s a lot—maybe a few thousand nationally. There could be violence, as the person quoted in the piece says. Everyone should be cautious and report anything that looks wrong. But Trump’s idea that these people will be some kind of private army for him is absurd.

I don’t even remotely believe they have critical mass, but there are a lot of guys out there who are just itching to finally shoot at a person. If the rhetoric is at this point now, what is it going to be like November 2nd?

With a president like this stochastic terror is always a problem. It’s been a problem. But for all their preening, all their gorilla displays, there are very few guys even among these groups unstable enough to jeopardize their freedom. They may like the idea of a Kyle Rittenhouse very much, and carry a sign that says “Free Kyle” and so forth. But Kyle will be in prison for the rest of his life. Most of these clowns would prefer not to be. It may be one of the few non-crazy thoughts they think, but the fact they’re running around loose suggests they’re maybe not quite as reckless as they’d like you to think.

Here’s hoping 90% of people vote by mail or do early in-person voting, so that on Election Day most people can stay at home and watch the ‘army’ pointlessly going through their motions.
That’s probably a ‘most likely scenario’, although I suspect for many of them it would be more akin to coming out of a stuffy old closet…
It sounds like the Proud Boys are going to hang around the drop box, making sure I put my ballot in the slot correctly.
