Trump Revives Grudge Against Barr For Being Tight-Lipped On Hunter Biden Probes | Talking Points Memo

Of course, if he fires Barr, what then? There’s still over a month to go before Biden is sworn in and an acting DoJ of the wrong sort could possibly do some very nasty-piece-of-work sorts of things. As much as I’d like to see Barr fired (perhaps he wants to be), I’m not sure this would be for the best right now.

He’s out of a job automatically on January 20th, if he still has it.

I don’t know why I do it. I click on TPM articles on Trump, I view Raw Story interviews with Lamar Alexander, I get enraged. Why do I do it? It’s like picking a scab. It’s like looking through my spam filter. It’s a sickness.

Trump cannot tell the difference. He has no concept of truth or lie, except as it benefits him. “Truth” has no independent meaning to him.

You know it’s all over, when Trump is threatening to kill his own Roy Cohn. The MAGA will be threatening to rape Amy Barret and all her daughters next…and then burn them at a stake.

The torchbearers got done in by the very Rule of Law that Republicans always tell us they worship.

Cruz and Graham along, with all 126 House members who signed that letter demanding to overthrow the vote of the people in several states to end our democracy, have been hoisted on their own petard. May this act of sedition become their legacy and haunt them and their descendants for all time.

No honor. No glory. Just censure for this ation any time they ever dare to speak conservative lies again.

No, that’s not a direct Barr quote. It’s from a “source” describing the situation between Trump and Barr. Here’s the quote from the CNN article where it showed up. It doesn’t sound like Barr is the source:

A source familiar with the breakdown of the Trump and Barr relationship over their disagreements about the soundness of the election and the Hunter Biden investigation said their recent interactions have shown that Barr won’t be intimidated by Trump.
“This is the real story. None of this matters – it’s the deposed king ranting. Irrelevant to the course of justice and to Trump’s election loss,” the source told CNN’s Jamie Gangel Saturday after Trump tweeted about his displeasure with Barr.

Every news cycle he can get to focus on his victimization equals another $5-10 million in donations to his super pac from the deplorables–and another $5-10 million he thinks he can funnel into paying off the $400 million in debt payments he owes in 2021.

He knows he has lost. All the nonsense he is spouting now is about two things: money; and sabotaging his rival Biden, because narcissists always sabotage their rivals.

Fire Barr? To paraphrase Junior, “If it’s what you say, I love it, especially right before Joe’s inauguration!.”

Agreed.

The 'rantings of a deposed king" comment from Barr pretty much seals that deal.

Who cares? Can we just leave him alone until he leaves and leaves us alone - Barr of no Barr?

Republicans dismantle our republic and Democrats must always restore ti. It’s been the story of the GOP ever since I was born. You’d think the entire electorate would have noticed that by now.

So akin to what the ethicist, Harry Frankfurt, defines as communication by bullshit: speech intended to persuade without regard for truth. The liar cares about the truth and attempts to hide it; the bullshitter doesn’t care if what they say is true or false, but rather only cares whether their listener is persuaded.

You have to wonder what will happen first: Trump being drug before a grand jury, defaulting hundred of millions on his Russian loans or Melania being replaced by Hope Hicks.

All three will require loads of PAC money to pay for Trump’s personal lawyers. The cupboards must be mighty bear at this point. The GOP’s royal family went through our Treasury for four years like it was a personal bank account. How do they replace that revenue source when Donald will be in court for the rest of his life?

We still have a little less than 40 days to go. Trump would probably have the new AG appoint a special prosecutor on ‘election fraud’ and ‘Hunter Biden’, which Biden’s new AG could simply shut down, but they would drive up a lot of performative nonsense about Biden interfering in the operations of the DOJ, which he should just ignore.

Is this just a “next week, on a very special episode of The Apprentice” thing? Does Barr actually have info on Trump that would ruin him? And if it is bad enough to derail the grifter train, is it bad enough to destroy Barr for holding on to it? Could we possibly hope for mutually assured destruction here? I realize that Trump can’t do anything without an audience, but but good grief, it gets tiresome watching him tease these things. I just wish he would do or do not. Then shut up and go away.

What a baby he is. :expressionless:

When will the media stop giving him free publicity?
