Trump Reminds Everyone: He Wants US Soldiers in US Streets

My take on Trump is that he play acting. He wants to be seen a strong man, he wants to do any and everything thing that he thinks makes him look important and in control.
I also think that there’s a part of this that DonOLD wants to play with every toy that the US military has, be it sending troops here and there to suppress our Constitutional rights, or fire off a nuclear missile.
DonOLD is that kid that when invited to someone’s b-day party hands over the gift, but then demands that he gets to play with first. And of course he breaks it.

Of all the horrible ideas he’s had using the military as a tool against us is to my mind the worst of a bad lot. There’s no way this doesn’t damage a whole lot of people

According to Wikipedia, there are 42 national emergencies currently in effect, 8 of them declared by Trump and 9 by Biden. Three of Trump’s national emergencies from his first term have been ended, including his Southern Border emergency and COVID emergency.

So if you are in a mid-coastal location away from the northern and southern borders; is the border the shoreline, or the 200 mile territorial limit, or whatever “The Man” says it is? I am sure I know the answer.

In his defense, it’s actually Putin’s teaching. Remember, “dominate the streets?” I thought at the time it had kind of a Russian ring.

I don’t care about his demise. I care about the collateral damage as he goes down.

And he freaking wants a parade with tanks and missiles and shit honoring him.

the most powerful, and potentially unconstrained, tool in the federal arsenal.

That doesn’t sound like “less government” or “small government” or state’s rights to me.

I have no problem with mass deportations of illegal immigrants, but I would suggest using each state’s National Guard troops. The NG would have “local” knowledge and could require local law enforcement to assist in the sweeps. If Trump wants to use Regular Army troops, it should be at the border, with Military Police and Infantry standing guard on the border, and Combat Engineers handling the continued construction of the wall. Once the wall is complete, Infantry and MP’s could continue to guard against illegal incursions and drug interdiction.

This is not surprising. Trump has no concern for legal limits, except as they may facilitate or impede his agendas. He will always try to ignore any that may get in his way.

Gosh we were all so wrong in calling him a fascist. So glad he’s laser-focused on the price of eggs.

As far as I know, using the military on domestic protestors has broad, bipartisan support among voters, as long as you can successfully portray the protestors as lawless. Someone did a poll on this recently but I don’t have it at hand.

You might be able to counteract this with old-school protests, where there are tickets and protest marshals and everyone wearing their Sunday best. Make the optics really awful for the government, like the civil rights movement did. But the price for that was paid in blood.

Ironically, the staunchest opposition to using the military on protestors comes from the military itself.

Just went online to try to calculate. It’s between three and four hours driving time, around 200 miles by road, but I’m sure that’s not how they figure it.
My town has a booming economy and is over 30% Hispanic. We also have a substantial Ukrainian immigrant community, and quite a number of Kenyans.
I’m would think the Ukrainians are safe enough, since they’re white, unless Putin wants them back, but the others are fucked, and our town with them.

deporting illegal inhabitants of the US

Question.
How are they going to know that they got everyone who snuck in, unless they keep spying on every house?
