President Donald Trump appeared to recycle an old conspiracy on Monday night claiming that a plane of unnamed “thugs” had descended to cause chaos at the Republican National Convention last week.
I don’t know if he’s already got covid, but he’s definitely got swamp fever.
“We had somebody get on a plane… it was almost completely loaded with thugs, wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms.”
Sir, that’s your border patrol and ICE.
In a Fox News interview on Monday night, the President bolstered a theory that anarchists and “people that you’ve never heard of, people that are in the dark shadows” were emerging from that darkness to sway Democratic nominee Joe Biden, whom Trump has called a “puppet of the radical left movement.”

It sounds to me like members of whatever the heck Eric Prince calls his secret army now reporting for duty. Or perhaps Chad’s unidentified goons. After all, they’ve got to get there somehow.

“Recycled a conspiracy theory”? Nope, he lied. It’s pretty obvious he made this up on the spot. He wanted to say something about left wing thugs and violence against the good white people of America, and what popped into his head was a conspiracy theory he heard 3 months ago. So he just made up a story out of whole cloth about a planned attack on the RNC, and used his tried and true “I can’t say anything more about it, but you’ll hear more later” line to avoid accountability. We all know there is not 1 ounce of truth to his statement. If the Justice Department were not also under corrupt leadership, they would come out and say immediately that there is no such investigation.
Again it is both shocking and not that he will get away with this. In any single day, Trump does multiple things that would be career-ending for any other politician. And the GOP enables it.
