Trump Reacts To Sondland Testimony | Talking Points Memo

As others have noted, this is part of his NPD. He has the lease on the DC hotel up for sale, he is making visits to Walter Reed under suspicious circumstances and now he is declaring victory. Could be setting the stage for resignation. His NPD will not allow him to be impeached. Should be interesting.

Why would that signal resignation?

It’s obvious that there will be articles to vote on. I keep thinking it would be great to schedule the actual vote several times over a couple of weeks, but pull it back at the last minute to “add charges” . That alone might do it.

Trump also claimed to make the sun rise, the rivers to flow and to have once beaten Tiger Woods at golf using only a toothpick. We should all bow down to his glorious and joyous gloriosity.

Btw, withholding military aid to Ukraine obviously benefits Russia, apart from any investigation into the Bidens helping Trump. Any evidence that this was pursued to also benefit Russia, or was that just a beneficial side effect of this attempted quid pro quo? Because if there is, it ties all this to Russia, which is and always has been by far Trump worst and most impeachable source of crimes, and makes impeachment far more compelling and a far worse nightmare for Repubs.

He can get more for it while still in office. If he expected to have a second term he would keep the hotel grift rolling in.

It was a “win” all right, just not for this delusional idiot.

It’s the Insanity Defense. I’ve thought for a long time he was going for the crazy to get out of any responsibility. What lawyer couldn’t make it a believable defense?

He’s calling it a ‘win’ because his supporters wont know the difference. They aren’t watching any impeachment coverage. And they aren’t going to see any negative (i.e.factual) coverage on Fux News.
They only know what HE tells them. And they LIKE it that way.

“The Lakehurst trip was a win for the Zeppelin Company.”

Yes! His statement wasn’t made because he isn’t parsing the information correctly, or he is having an episode. It is because he is a shrewd propagandist, and knows that he needs to to put an oar in the water to counter the boat’s sudden drift to the left – his ability to draw attention to himself and away from the hearings is one of the best tools he has to combat the truth.

Oh yes, General, I couldn’t agree more. Well said. :+1:

No one said “quid pro quo” but trump did say “let me ask a favor”. Which to trump means “something for something”. I suppose the Wharton school or anywhere else in U Penn did not teach Latin.

The fact that this alone won’t cause R’s to flinch is all the evidence that we need that this country is simply done.

It’s 8:11 pm est and I swear the sun is coming up.
it’s over
night has become day and day has become night.
that bright thing in the sky you might see tomorrow is now called the moon.

One of Trump’s traits:

When he is six hours away from removal, he will talk and act very similarly to the way he talks and acts six months away from removal.

It is partly Roy Cohn Training
It is mostly his mental illness
It works on the faint-hearted among us
It invigorates his Cult
It is only tangentially related to actual facts

Too bad he is backed up by McConnell and a political party that supports it 100%.
