Exactly. He’ll revel in the fact that he’s the one that overturned abortion with a smarmy look on his face. It will be important to him that he did it and others didn’t. But he could care less about abortions themselves.
While what you say is true, your over simplification misses the key point, the definition of winning.
To the truly anti-abortion voters, those who believe abortion is murder and vote on that one issue to the exclusion of all else, overturning Roe was one battle but the war is stopping all abortions by outlawing abortion for everyone.
For these voters, and they are an important part of the GOP base often determinitve in the GOP winning, state by state or some other play like a 15 week ban with exceptions that in practice stops few abortions is not winning but rather being sold out.
So on the one hand you are right, that overturning Roe has caused a surge in the single issue pro-choice voter to the extent that for the first time they exceed the single issue anti-abortion voter, it is also true that the single issue anti-abortion voter is not satisfied because without national legislation outlawing abortion at insepetion, overturning Roe will result in no significant change.
And that is the problem Republicans are having in the wake of Dobbs, an angry and energized opposition and an unsatisfied base.
Wait until they take Clarence Thomas’ hint and go after contraception.
Men will be stabbed in their beds (if they are GOPers who back this; not MY husband I assure you; he’s madder)-- and I admit to being mad, I actually retched today when Nicolle Wallace read what Trump had to say about Mr. Avila. Horrible human being inside and out.
I know, make wigs mandatory, and those culotte-type pants they wore with knee-length white socks.
And ‘especially’ the high heels.
You know, order them all to be trans-dressers!
Trump nominated three people to SCOTUS, knowing that they would all vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, first chance they got.
And then they did it.
He’s 100% responsible for the Dobbs decision. Biden better not let him back out of that.
He doesn’t need to win a GOP primary, so he can say things like this. He thinks this would win him votes in the general election.
He lies. Anybody with half a brain would know that he and Republicans would pass a total ban on any abortions if they had the majority. The bible-thumpers would be ecstatic and he’d bask in their praise.
Marge, the glasses don’t make you look smarter.
