She’s my congress member. When you see her at town halls there’s a lot of pragmatism and working within the system built in to the mix. Say if we’re not getting Medicare for all a public option at least moves the ball substantially forward. ie “The perfect is not the enemy of the good”.

She can read polls, knows Bernie is in fact toast for 2020, and will not serve after this term in the Senate (2024). If she wants to be relevant getting things done after 2021, she needs to fly in formation, just a bit.

According to the Alabama secretary of state, only “leftist extremists” want vote by mail or no-excuse absentee ballots (Alabama requires two witnesses or a notary to sign an absentee ballot, kind of negating the social distancing thing).

Nice Kinsleyan gaffe of Republicans’ deepest fears, but the statement isn’t even true. Republicans would adapt to be less racist, less fascist and more thoughtful and sensible. A future Obama figure would get 10 GOP votes for the future equivalent of Romneycare. The rich would pay more tax and be better off for it. The middle class and working poor would be better off too. Wages would be higher, stock prices lower. I doubt Republicans would adapt enough to ever get my vote, but they might only be wrong 85% of the time instead of their current 99%.

Maybe the Dems involved knew it was imperative to get financial relief to people and organizations that needed it because they knew this wasn’t the time to get into ideological battles with the moron. The Dems are putting up another bill shortly. Maybe they’ll take another more lethal stab at the repubs.
