When you pay off a tyrant, he comes back for more

Also, for Trump, any criticism of him is “hate speech”.

Didn’t the Senate already confirm Lisa Cook’s replacement?

How’s that gonna work?

While I hope the NYT case doesn’t end with a multi-million/billion dollar payout for the First Felon, as someone said earlier, discovery would be epic.

The rest of MM is a travesty, but it’s where we are today. Next week, today’s MM will look sane in comparison…

He must be on his way to the UK - lucky them.

In my opinion you are hurting Australia right now. Quiet.

He’s thoroughly insane, but we knew that.

Early this year, the Department of Government Efficiency started working to break down walls between federal data collections maintained by the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Aggregating these intentionally separated data sources not only reduces their security but also allows for the instant reconstruction of the sum of our private lives, with few or no rules on who will have access to it or how it will be used. In March, Mr. Trump issued an executive order explicitly directing all federal agencies to follow suit by eliminating boundaries between the systems they use to collect data on the populations they serve.

The early indications are not good. The federal government has significantly expanded contracts with Palantir, the powerful and secretive surveillance technology company co-founded by Peter Thiel. The U.S. Postal Service has reportedly started cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security to track undocumented immigrants. State and local police officers are collaborating as well.

Very important, since the Fed’s rate decision is due tomorrow. Who’s in the room, and who’s out? No idea how it’s gonna work.

The rest of MM is a travesty, but it’s where we are today.

True. And yet. Why does it feel like the last few days are some kind of calm before some kind of storm? Perhaps because it’s awful, but little of it is actionable. Just more awful, to be resolved.

Not just for endorsing Kamala.

The defamation suit against The Times also names book publisher Penguin Random House and four Times reporters, two of whom wrote a book for Penguin, titled “Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success.”

And in typical Trumpian lawsuit fashion - which has been repeatedly called out by judges:

The 85-page suit reads at times like a pro-Trump op-ed, with page after page of gushing praise for the president and repeated references to other lawsuits he has filed against other media outlets.

Last year it was just fake news.

Individuals can be hated for what they have done. Speech can reveal that. Hitler was an evil man Little, if anything, wrong with stating that fact.

Hate speech attributes to individuals – even to individuals the speaker has never met – actions attributed to that group by the stereotype the speaker holds.
